POSITION SUMMARY: The EMT is responsible for delivering high-quality pre-hospital and interfacility medical care and ensuing the safe, efficient transport of critically ill or injured patients via ground ambulance. This role requires a skilled and adaptable individual who can operate effectively in dynamic, high-pressure environments, including rural and remote settings. The Ground Paramedic works collaboratively with health partners to assess, stabilize, and manage patients in the field and during transport. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform comprehensive patient assessments to determine medical needs during transport. • Provide advanced life support (ALS) and critical care interventions, including airway management, IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, and medication administration. • Continuously monitor and manage patient conditions during transport, making necessary interventions as per medical protocols. • Communicate effectively with medical control, receiving facilities, and healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care. • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, interventions, and transport details. • Ensure safe and efficient patient transport via ground ambulance. • Assist in loading and unloading patients while ensuring proper securing of stretchers and medical equipment. • Operate within ground safety protocols, following crew resource management principles. • Perform pre-transport equipment checks to ensure all medical supplies and life support equipment are operational. • Work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide seamless patient care. • Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide reassurance and information about the transport process. • Participate in debriefings and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety. • Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations regarding emergency medica services and air medical transport. • Follow infection control procedures and safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure a safe working environment. • Other duties as assigned.
