$36 - $45 per hour + Bonus Bryson Sales and Service, Inc., a family-owned and operated Blue Bird and Micro Bird bus dealership based in Woods Cross, UT, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Primary Road Technician for the Southern Utah/Nevada territory. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive, truck, heavy-duty, and diesel mechanics. Experience in the school bus mechanical sector is a valuable plus. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and a skilled mechanic experienced with medium and heavy-duty vehicles. Responsibilities include installing local dealer options, as well as performing repairs and routine maintenance. We are a drug-free workplace and an equal opportunity employer. Accurately inspect, diagnose, and repair buses brought to us for maintenance and repair, and maintain Bryson’s vehicle fleet. This position’s primary responsibilities involve on-the-road services such as visiting school districts and other facilities to address repair and maintenance needs. Technicians are expected to spend at least 75% of their time in the field, responding directly to customer needs at their location. This role requires the use of independent judgment to make effective repair decisions within the framework of established company policies and procedures. When no fieldwork is scheduled, you may be required to travel and support work with our UT branch. Building and maintaining strong working relationships with customers is essential to delivering outstanding service. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Inspect school bus prior to delivery, making needed repairs and adjustments to ensure the bus is in safe working condition and compliant with state regulations. • Install and test electrical equipment (e.g., video cameras, 2-way radios) to ensure correct functionality. • Repair and maintain all body components and assemblies (e.g., seats, glass, sheet metal, latches, etc.). • Change oil and filters, install anti-freeze and snow chains, repair tires, adjust brakes, and lubricate chassis, wheel bearings, and other assemblies as needed. • Operate and maintain all equipment and tools used in the field and shop to ensure functionality and safety. • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and engine problems in buses, exercising independent decision-making where appropriate. • Use basic hand tools and a variety of mechanical aids in the repair and maintenance of school buses (e.g., battery chargers, compression gauges, torque wrenches, drills, air wrenches, etc.). • Test buses after repair to verify that issues have been resolved and that they operate safely and efficiently. • Clean buses to maintain sanitary and operational conditions. • Complete work orders, repair orders, and reports accurately, completely, and efficiently, including time worked and materials used. • Respond to client inquiries in a timely and professional manner, ensuring satisfaction and accountability. • Establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, providing friendly, knowledgeable service during all on-site interactions. • Follow work schedules and priorities as set by the supervisor to ensure timely and coordinated repairs. • Perform all preventive maintenance activities for heavy and light duty vehicles (e.g., bearings, ignitions, transmissions, differentials, brakes, axles, steering mechanisms, drive shafts, suspension systems, etc.) and conduct routine safety inspections. • Maintain high safety standards at all times; work area and tools must be kept clean, safe, and in proper working order. Report unsafe conditions promptly. • Attend workshops and training sessions as directed by the service manager to stay current on best practices and technical updates. • Tag all warranty and core parts for return processing as required. • Must be able to travel overnight and demonstrate flexibility in traveling beyond the local coverage area based on business needs. • Perform other assigned duties on an occasional basis that are in the best interest of the company and/or employee. REQUIREMENTS: • Experience and ability to operate a variety of equipment utilized in repair and maintenance. • Ability to analyze problems. • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, and to read and interpret schematics and diagrams. • Ability to interpret and apply a common-sense understanding to a variety of instructions and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, using independent judgment and demonstrating initiative to act without being asked, as well as working collaboratively with team members. • Ability to interact professionally across all departments within the company, as well as with customers, vendors, and the public. • Ability to lift heavy objects. • High school diploma/equivalent, specialized training in auto mechanics a plus. • Minimum of 3 years related experience, experience in preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting. • Possess a set of basic automotive mechanic hand tools and a storage cabinet. • Possess a valid Driver's License, preferably with a CDL endorsement. • Must be 21 years of age or older for insurance purposes. All job offers are contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug test. This job is a Safety-Sensitive position, so the pre-employment drug test will include testing for cannabis (aka marijuana). EOE
