No Starch Press is expanding our editorial department and seeking an experienced Acquisitions Editor to join our remote team. **ABOUT THE ROLE:** As an Acquisitions Editor, you'll acquire, develop, and manage technical book projects from concept through publication. You'll work directly with authors to develop manuscripts, coordinate with technical reviewers, and ensure books meet our quality standards. This position requires strong technical understanding, excellent judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Remote position with flexible scheduling coordinated through your manager. **WHAT YOU'LL DO:** • Identify market opportunities and recruit authors for new book projects • Guide authors through the manuscript development process • Edit technical content for clarity, accuracy, and structure • Hire and manage technical reviewers • Coordinate projects through production timelines • Write marketing copy including back cover text • Collaborate with marketing and production teams **REQUIREMENTS:** • 5+ years of hands-on editing experience at a publishing company or related field • Strong understanding of programming concepts and technical terminology • Proven experience working with technical authors • Project management skills with ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects • Excellent writing and editing abilities • Experience with Word, LibreOffice, and ideally LaTeX/Overleaf • Bachelor's degree • Ability to work independently while maintaining regular team communication **ABOUT NO STARCH PRESS:** Founded in 1994, No Starch Press publishes technical books for developers, system administrators, and security professionals.
