Description

I. SUMMARY: Operates heavy equipment (e.g. front-end loader, backhoe, skid-steer, blending equipment) to process Bloom into marketable biosolids products. Makes deliveries of products and retrieves feedstock as needed. Monitors and adjusts general housekeeping in blending and curing facilities. II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Operates heavy equipment, including front-end loader, backhoe, skid-steer, windrow turner, blending equipment, etc. to process biosolids into marketable Bloom products. • Makes deliveries of products and retrieves feedstock as needed in DC Water pickup trucks, dump trucks, and tractor trailers. Weighs loads on plant scales for tracking purposes as directed. • Monitor the solids production and Bloom production needs. • Receives and ensures proper storage of feedstock shipments. • Collects product samples as needed. • Records daily activity and operating conditions. Responsible for tracking feedstock and product storage. • Performs route inspections of manned and unmanned facilities and equipment • Monitors and adjusts greenhouse operating conditions, including watering, temperature, air flow and plant growth. • Operates overhead crane in biosolids loading facility as needed. • Responsible for cleaning and general housekeeping in blending and curing facilities. • Operates a variety of Authority vehicles and equipment including front-end loader, backhoe, skidsteer, blending equipment, pickup truck, etc. as an essential function of the position. Maintains vehicles and/or equipment in a clean and orderly manner. Reports any operating deficiencies to the appropriate Authority personnel. • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned at the discretion of the immediate supervisor. Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A Key Working Relationships: Interacts with employees within the Authority, vendors of equipment and services, and representatives of private industry. III. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE & OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: The minimum qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability necessary for an individual to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable amounts of training are provided. • High school Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate and four (4) years of progressive experience that involves the operation of gasoline, diesel, or other powered engine equipment designed for excavation, lifting, and hauling. • Must possess and maintain current a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License, Commercial Driver’s License, Class A with air brakes endorsement, and a DC Operating Engineer’s License, Class 7B. • Must have a crane operator license • Must have a CDL • Knowledge of basic mechanical repairs. Skilled in the use of a variety of tools and/or equipment. Ability to perform a variety of manual dexterity tasks. • Skilled in communicating orally and interacting with a wide range of individuals. • Experience operating cranes is preferred. • Ensure Bloom is moved out of bunkers to avoid solids train shutdowns. • Ensure that the TDPS shaft is cleared as necessary to ensure functionality of the Clean Rivers system IV. POSITION SUMMARY: Tablet Press Operator will set up, maintain, and run capsule machine. Operator will also be responsible for recording logs every 30 minutes, submitting samples to QC for approval, and for capsule quality. Capsule operator must not leave machine unattended while machine is running. Product quality to be checked at start up and after breaks. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Set up press with floor supervisor. Verify correct punches are used and in good order. Feed material to hopper to run press. Verify correct blend is being used. Bring samples to QC for approval. Responsible for keeping a log for every break, change in operator, and machine being stopped. Monitor tablets coming off punch and dropped into container. Responsible for tablet quality. Must remain at machine while machine is running. Responsible for machine’s routine maintenance and cleaning by following SOP instructions. Responsible for taking samples from beginning, middle, and end of run and recording on log. Label containers with correct information as described on batch ticket. Work area must be kept in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices. Remove all trash at the end of the shift and clean room thoroughly. Keep current equipment use and cleaning log. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Critical Operating Relationships: QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School Diploma or GED Experience: Preferred experience in nutraceutical or solid dosage manufacturing. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to bend, stretch, and stand for extended time intervals during work shift Must have good oral communication skills to be able to complete work tasks as instructed Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English SHIFT: 130pm to 930pm Monday to Friday
