Other days are possible where my other caregivers are unavailable. You will be coordinating closely with these other caregivers who works the other days of the week. Your main responsibilities are as a companion, cook, driver, and to some extent, housecleaner. The emphasis will be on companionship with a strong understanding of the ways in which Alzheimer’s affects behavior as cognitive decline progresses. I am looking for a caregiver who can get excited about making a deep connection with a woman who is very open to engaging with her caregivers. She is very easy as a client by the way and can be lots of fun ! Qualifications: • Please let me know if you are registered with the Department of Social Services Home Care Aide Registry • If not registered, must be willing to allow a thorough background check • Familiarity with the work of Teepa Snow or other Dementia training is a strong plus • Must be willing to provide information on current health status including TB shots and immunizations. • Must be willing to get an annual Flu & CoViD Shot • English fluency is important as the client is hard of hearing • German speaking is a very strong plus ! Responsibilities: • Working with an elderly person whose memory is fading. Her “world” is very small which means she doesn’t remember conversations for very long • Your interest in art, exercise – especially long walks, music, drawing, games, word puzzles, reading out loud, and other guided experiences are important contributions; if you don’t like to do these things independently this is not the job for you. • I encourage “adventures” around the city, or even out of the city; all expenses reimbursed of course. • Keep in close communication with me about health status and other needs. • Assist with ADL functions including bathroom functions and showering. • The ability to create / follow a flexible, but consistent daily schedule that may include activities both in and out of the home. This means sitting around watching television is not to be a major past time • 24 hour care may be required depending on the client’s health Please be willing to provide a resume and three references who are not personal friends; prior employers would be preferable.
