In this pivotal role, you'll design, implement, and maintain the robust network foundation that powers our cutting-edge technology. You'll ensure the reliability, security, and high performance of our critical systems, contributing directly to our mission of revolutionizing transportation. Architect & Implement: Serve as tech lead to design and deploy scalable, resilient network architectures (LAN, WAN, data center) to support our growing infrastructure. Develop comprehensive network documentation and lead infrastructure projects from concept to deployment. Optimize & Maintain: Proactively monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement network configuration changes and upgrades. Deploy and manage robust security measures, including firewalls, ACLs, and VPN/ZTNA. Automate & Streamline: Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to enhance network operations. Leverage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools for efficient configuration management and implement network automation platforms. Collaborate & Support: Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams (systems, security, development) to ensure seamless integration. Provide expert-level support, mentor junior engineers, and participate in on-call rotations. Work with vendors on technology selection. Requirements 5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering. Expert level knowledge and experience in network routing and switching. Deep expertise in networking protocols and technologies: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, VLANs, STP, firewalls, VPNs. Proven experience configuring and managing network hardware from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, Arista, and Fortinet. Strong understanding of network security best practices. Strong understanding of Unix/Linux based operating systems. Strong organization and time management skills. Exceptional troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills. Preferred Experience Experience with hyperscale network design and implementation. Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP). Proficiency in network automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) and scripting languages (Python, Go, Bash). POSITION SUMMARY: The Database Technician supports Tribal participation in major infrastructure projects by overseeing database management, project coordination, and financial tracking under the supervision of the Project Manager. This role ensures accurate data integration for regulatory compliance, environmental review, and engineering assessments while maintaining financial records, procurement oversight, and logistical support. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will: • Maintain GIS databases, environmental records, and regulatory documentation while ensuring the accuracy, security, and accessibility of project-related data. • Provide administrative support for final presentations and compiling and submitting reports to federal, state, and Tribal partners. • Track cultural resource impact assessments to support preservation efforts. • Work alongside the Project Manager to ensure alignment between field operations and administrative workflows. • Coordinate daily database operations with the Tribal Civil Engineer and Natural Resources Department Director. • Provide logistical support to engineering review teams, environmental monitors, and cultural resource specialists. • Assist in processing timesheets, staffing requests, and equipment mobilization as part of the Tribal team’s participation in the project. • Monitor funding allocations, ensuring Tribal participation remains cost-effective and compliant. • Prepare financial summaries and expenditure reports for leadership review. • Assist with grant administration, procurement approvals, and budget forecasting for preconstruction and construction phases. • Maintain contract agreements and financial records aligned with DOT & PF and Tribal financial requirements. • Ensure all regulatory filings, permits, and compliance documentation are properly maintained. • Assist Tribal Civil Engineer and Project Manager in reviewing engineering plans, geotechnical data, and cultural resource findings. • Contribute to weekly and bi-weekly Tribal team meetings, assisting in progress tracking and interagency coordination. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: • Ability to collect data, establish facts, define problems, and draw valid conclusions. • Provide outstanding customer service to external and internal customers. • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, GIS-based data processing, and cloud database systems for regulatory documentation. • Strong knowledge of budget forecasting, grant administration, and procurement tracking for large scale infrastructure projects. • Ability to work well and with a high degree of accuracy in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Strong technical and organizational skills. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and relationships. • Ability to work independently and interdependently in a positive and productive manner. • Ability to make decisions and exercise good judgement. • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. • Maintain confidentiality and securing sensitive information. • Willingness to learn new skills and be a team player. Scout’s Network Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of the network infrastructure supporting our renewable energy power plants, remote operations center, and corporate office. This role requires technical expertise in multiprotocol networks, multilayer switches, next-generation firewalls, and central management systems.   Our network environment consists of Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Cisco networking devices, with WAN connectivity via IPSec tunnels and SD-WAN solutions. The ideal candidate will leverage automation and monitoring tools to maintain high availability and ensure SLAs are met. They should also be comfortable navigating change management processes and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust network solutions.  The Network Engineer will report to the Senior Manager, Information Technology and Cybersecurity.   Key Responsibilities  Oversee and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Cisco devices. Configure and maintain the Azure network infrastructure.  Optimize LAN/WAN architecture, firewall security, and data systems performance for scalability and efficiency.  Implement network monitoring and management systems to achieve high availability and minimal downtime.  Install, configure, and manage firewalls, switches, and other network devices.  Automate routine networking tasks to improve efficiency and reliability.  Apply network security best practices to align with business requirements.  Conduct performance tests, analyze network integrity, and generate reports.  Develop and implement network disaster recovery plans.  Troubleshoot and resolve escalated network support issues.  Maintain comprehensive technical documentation.  Collaborate with business partners to provide network engineering support.  Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery within set deadlines.    Other Responsibilities  SIEM management: Collaborates with IT teams to configure and maintain the SIEM platform to meet security monitoring and incident response requirements. Performs ongoing optimization, performance tuning, and capacity planning for the SIEM environment to ensure efficient log collection, analysis, and alerting    Vulnerability management: Utilizes vulnerability scanning tools to identify and report on security weaknesses. Collaborates with IT teams to communicate vulnerability findings and facilitate the implementation of remediation plans. Ensures the reliability and recoverability of critical systems through the management of backup solutions and the execution of regular disaster recovery testing procedures.  Requirements Required Qualifications  4+ years of enterprise networking experience.  Expertise in network switching and firewall technologies.  Strong experience with WAN solutions and communication protocols.  Proficiency with network monitoring and analysis tools.  Hands-on experience with cloud networking solutions.  Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.    Preferred Qualifications  CCNP Certification  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.  Certifications in Palo Alto, or Cisco (or equivalent training).  Experience with Cisco or SEL or other OT switches.  Strong background in Palo Alto firewall administration.  Proven track record implementing WAN solutions (DIA, MPLS, SD-WAN, etc.).  Familiarity with BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF routing protocols.  Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, SolarWinds).  Hands-on knowledge of Azure cloud networking.  Understanding of NERC-CIP requirements.  Organizational Fit:  Strong project management, process development, and team-building skills.
