Join the Rhode Island Wind Ensemble! (East Providence)

address360 Warren Ave, East Providence, RI 02914, USA

Description

The Rhode Island Wind Ensemble is open to new members year-round by audition, with many new members typically joining at the start of each fall season. How do I schedule an audition? Go to https://www.riwe.org/join and click “Become a Member.” Who will hear my audition? Auditions will be heard by RIWE’s conductor, Rob Franzblau. What will happen at the audition? Please prepare 1–2 minutes each from two contrasting pieces of your choice—one lyrical and one technical—that best showcase your musical ability. Scales and sight-reading are not required. Auditionees will also have a chance to chat with the conductor and ask any questions they may have about the ensemble, the music, or the season ahead. When will auditions take place? Auditions will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time with you and the conductor. A private Zoom link will be emailed to you prior to the audition. How should Zoom be configured? Please be sure to turn on “Original Sound for Musicians” in Zoom so that your instrument is captured clearly. This setting disables Zoom’s default noise suppression, which can distort or muffle the sound of instruments. A quick Google search will show you how to enable this setting on your particular device—just search “Zoom Original Sound for Musicians” along with your device type. What are the expectations for members of RIWE? All RIWE members pay dues of $75 per year and are expected to be diligent and reliable in their attendance and in preparing their music for rehearsals. The official handbook of policies and protocols is available at this link.
