Day-to-day administration, monitoring, and maintenance related to routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, packet shapers, wireless systems, and circuits. Design, implement, and monitor network systems related to: Cisco network routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, WiFi systems, Circuits: WAN/MPLS, internet, replication, SIP, Network VPNs. Assure off-site disaster recovery environment is consistently available. Participate in disaster recovery testing as directed. Work with IT Security Team to select, implement, and maintain security-related systems and address related incidents/events. Conduct troubleshooting and repair tasks on network at a detailed level and by device. Identify and resolve recurring issues and mitigate reliability risks. Coordinate, plan, and/or execute multiple annual disaster recovery exercises. Adhere to established change management processes. Create and maintain operational procedures. Provide level 3 technical support and participate in team on-call rotation. Participate in capacity planning, ensuring that systems have the capacity to meet strategic business needs with few or no reliability issues. Work with 3rd-party vendors to procure hardware and software solutions, as well as addressing updates and issues after implementation. Provide assistance and mentoring to Network Infrastructure Administrators and other Network Infrastructure Engineers. Other duties may be assigned to meet ongoing business needs. Requirements A minimum of five years of experience working in networking as an engineer or administrator Must have hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches as well as Cisco ACI and Cisco AnyConnect Must have experience with F5 Load Balancers, VPNs Experience supporting security initiatives and implementing security best practices in networking, to include VPNs and Cisco Firewalls Ability to maintain various network systems hardware and software technologies Scripting and automation experience in PowerShell Experience in single data center network with disaster recovery site Windows Server, Linux, and Mac OS system administration Solarwinds for network monitoring Wireshark Sniffer/packet capture tools SSH and Telnet client and terminal emulator programs Governance, Risk and Compliance assessments, PCI compliance, and audits Contracts, implementations, terminations, and maintenance of circuits from various providers Disaster recovery

The U.S. Department of State (Department), Office of Inspector General (OIG) has a requirement for full-time Information Technology (IT) Management Networking and Security Services support. The purpose of the task order is to provide professional services personnel to provide quality, comprehensive IT support to the OIG in an effective and efficient manner with a vision to maintain effective and efficient IT operations commensurate with industry best practices, while ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of OIG data. Job Duties: Manages all components and aspects of OIGNet network, provides assistance and support as necessary for OpenNet and ClassNet networks Manages routing, switching and firewall infrastructure for on-premises, co-location site and cloud environments Supports existing and new implementations from an operational perspective Designs, implements and supports new network and datacenter solutions such as voiceover-IP, IPv6, datacenter switches and routing Monitors performance of network infrastructure and provides last tier troubleshooting support as necessary Monitors availability of all applications, systems and networks per established SLAs Monitors overall security posture of applications, systems and networks and takes immediate action to address identified issues Implements and/or uses IT security tools to monitor and protect OIGNet network and all associated assets Implements zero-trust network architecture concepts to always keep OIGNet network secure Works with lead network engineer and datacenter manager to set priorities for projects and tasks Guides junior engineers as necessary on topics related to OIG projects and tasks Participates in team meetings, collaborates with other team members and teams on projects and tasks Creates detailed network diagrams, as built, and standard operating procedure documents Uses OIG ticketing system to resolve problem tickets Interfaces with external entities such as IRM, other federal agencies and internet service providers to work on projects and troubleshooting efforts when necessary Supports all FISMA A&A and continuous monitoring efforts for on-premise and cloud environments Provides last tier support during normal business and after hours in critical network outage situations to provide quick resolution Requirements A bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science or related IT field and ten years of experience in support of Windows/Linux/Unix operating systems, Cisco networking equipment and systems integration for classified and unclassified networks. Experience in planning and executing systems engineering projects in support of system engineering life cycle development for classified and unclassified environments. Strong problem solving, leadership and project management skills. Proficiency with all aspects of Windows Server 2003, 2008 Active Directory Services. Understanding of the Border Gateway Routing Protocol (BGRP) and Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE). Knowledge of CISCO routers and switches and networking technologies. Experience with VPN encryption devices, such as Cisco routers, Cisco ASA’s and Nortel Connectivity. Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity issues and resolve problems related to outages. Ability to evaluate residing systems for network, system and security readiness as well as provide troubleshooting for application environment issues. Seeking a Lab Engineer with strong networking expertise to support testing, evaluation, and development of advanced network solutions within a controlled lab environment. This role involves configuring network infrastructure, troubleshooting, and assisting in validation efforts to ensure high-performance and secure operations. Key Responsibilities: Design, configure, and maintain network lab environments to support testing and development initiatives. Troubleshoot and optimize network configurations across switches, routers, firewalls, and other critical infrastructure. Analyzing customer functional requirements to develop system requirements specifications and implement designed solutions. Assist in developing and executing test plans, simulations, and performance validations. Document configurations, troubleshooting steps, and lab procedures for future reference. Support automation efforts using scripting or tools like Ansible, Python, or other network automation frameworks. Ensure compliance with security protocols and best practices for lab environments.
