At Sankofa, the ESOL teacher provides specialized instruction to English Language Learners (ELLs) through engaging and supportive sessions. In this role, the ESOL teacher will play a crucial role in helping ELL students develop their English language proficiency, fostering an environment that encourages language development, cultural understanding, and academic success. The position reports to the Director of Student Support Services and Culture.  Location: 5881 Phillips Drive, Forest Park, GA, 30297 Start Date: August 2025 Hours: 45 minutes each Monday through Friday OR 90 minutes each Monday, Tuesday, and Friday when school is in session. View school calendar HERE. Role Summary and Information Key Responsibilities: Identification and Assessment: Collaborate with school staff to identify and assess students for ESOL services. Utilize various assessment tools to determine students' English language proficiency and academic needs. Curriculum Development: Design and develop differentiated curriculum to meet the unique needs of ELL students. Incorporate a variety of instructional strategies to enhance language acquisition and academic performance. Session Planning and Delivery: Conduct 45 minute session daily for identified ELL students. Provide engaging and interactive lessons that support language development and cultural integration. Individualized Instruction: Tailor instruction to address individual learning styles and preferences. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages collaboration and independent thinking. Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and monitor the academic progress of ELL students. Provide feedback to students, parents, and school staff regarding student achievements and areas for growth. Collaboration: Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other stakeholders to support the integration of ESOL education within the broader curriculum. Professional Development: Stay updated on current trends and best practices in ESOL education. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. Requirements Qualifications: Bachelor's degree; required  GA State certification in ESOL; required 2 years of experience in teaching English Language Learners Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction, curriculum development, and the Georgia state standards Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment Successful background check results required Benefits COMPENSATION Sankofa Montessori’s compensation philosophy is to pay competitively for the PK-12 charter market to ensure equity across our institution. We pay between $25-$50 per hour for this role based on experience.
