POSITION TITLE:   Purchasing Coordinator REPORTS TO (TITLE):  Director of Plant Operations  DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: This role will coordinate supply procurement, distribution, and maintain inventory at SBHH. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains an electronic inventory of all supplies relevant to patient care at SBHH. Understands inventory management including PAR levels and lead times. Works directly with hospital leadership and patient care givers to determine supply needs, set PAR levels, and demonstrates flexibility in meeting requests for inventory. Creates and manages contracts with vendors, purchase orders, and follows hospital policy in annual assessment of vendor contracts to achieve favorable cost and vendor performance. Daily stocking of supplies to patient care areas and support areas of the hospital. Accurately receives and documents all supplies delivered to facility. Prepares outgoing shipments with necessary documents to correct carrier. Daily stocking of supplies to nursing units per re-establish par levels. Issues stock accurately to requestors in a timely fashion and responds to special request for supplies and/or equipment. Performs inventory and informs supervisor of any changes in supply usage. Monitors emergency management supplies and prepares control strategies to Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements. Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs. Requirements Minimum Requirements: Hospital and/or Healthcare Experience strongly desired. Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products, (word, excel, outlook). Experience and proficiency with software programs related to inventory management. Exceptional customer service with internal and external stakeholders including compassionate and professional communication, responsiveness to requests Meticulous ability to collect, track, monitor data and summarize results to senior leadership. Ability to organize workflow with minimal oversight, organize schedule and routine with minimal direction. Knowledge and Experience: AA or BA degree preferred in supply chain management, logistics or business administration Current NCI equivalent as approved by the Chief Nursing Officer (or obtained within the first 30 days of hire). One year hospital central supply distribution experience preferred. Skills and Abilities: Sensitivity to and willingness to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds. Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, work relatively independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills.  Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills. Physical Requirements:   While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following:  Communicate effectively in person or via telephone in a manner which can be understood by those with whom the person is speaking, including a diverse population.  Give and follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail and accuracy.  Perform complex mental functions and basic arithmetic functions. Vision: see details of objects at close range. Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.  Reach forward, up, down, and to the side.  Sit or stand for minimum periods of one hour at a time and come and go from the work area repeatedly throughout the day.
