Has beginning to intermediate level setup skills for departmental equipment.   Operates various assigned production centers. Loads material, removes turnings, and maintains specified lubricants and coolants as required. Operates and performs basic set ups on departmental machines such as manual lathes, CNC turning centers, slotters, drill presses, etc. Operates and performs sets up on a variety of customized secondary operation machines, drill presses, thread tapers, dimple presses, washing tanks, broaching presses and honing centers. Inspects articles to verify conformance to specifications. Identifies damaged or inferior quality products. Performs necessary preventive machine maintenance and cleaning. Accurately and reliably maintains all paper work, or data input requirements of the department. Assists in training coworkers on how to operate, adjust, and set up machines. May perform in a temporary lead role. Requirements Skills and Experiences You’ll Need as a CNC Production Machinist 1:   High School diploma or equivalent and 2-3 years similar machining/manufacturing experience, or an equivalent combination of experience required. Intermediate blueprint reading skills. Ability to read blueprints and measurement gauges to inspect for part conformity. Basic math computation skills. Ability to understand and apply geometric concepts (e.g., angles and degrees) in making basic adjustments or setting up basic tooling and holding fixtures in the laser machines. Good organizational skills and ability to multi task (i.e., operate one machine while setting up another). Ability to read and communicate effectively.   Work Environment for a CNC Production Machinist 1: Work takes place in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and chemicals. Ability to use PPE. Ability to stand or sit for long periods; Good manual dexterity, fine motor skills, visual acuity, and ability to use full range of motion. We are looking for an experienced Metallurgist with knowledge of material testing and analysis. Ideally, you will know manufacturing processes, materials, and substances, possess strong analytical skills, and understand material and failure analysis techniques. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of experience. Only candidates legally authorized to work in the U.S. will be considered.  Responsibilities: Answer technical questions, analyze inspection data, and review lab test results Conduct failure analysis on materials from manufacturing, engineering, or quality Technical control of sediment and metallurgical process, including setup, auditing, and writing technical specifications and control sheets Direct production and quality control team members on proper testing procedures and review Met Lab test results Engage with internal and external customers to determine application requirements and solve related problems Conduct and oversee the process of conducting chemical analysis on new parts Instruct Met Lab Techs on how to operate lab equipment safely and conduct testing with a minimal amount of interruption to the production process Conduct quarterly and annual tests and prepare reports Manage lab schedule to ensure coverage during regular hours, overtime, and weekends Schedule standing shift meetings, including safety talks Ensure lab equipment is operating correctly and calibrations are completed regularly Requirements A degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science is highly preferred. Candidates with a degree in another field and at least three years of related experience will be considered. Knowledge of Metallurgical engineering, standards, practices, and quality systems. High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult. Demonstrated familiarity with Global Manufacturing Systems Principles. Experience working in a manufacturing environment, ability to perform metallurgical and failure analysis testing. Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively balance multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities while consistently meeting objectives and deadlines. Proficient in problem-solving with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated teamwork skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members from various technical disciplines. Day-to-day operations management skills. Ability to identify and problem-solve issues for continuous improvement. Knowledge of and ability to effectively use computer software for job-related tasks. Advise management on work-in-progress status, material availability, and potential production issues to ensure personnel, equipment, materials, and services are in place. Confirm material supply and demand; prepare purchase requests based on production schedules, shop load, and inventory requirements. Coordinate activities with product assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, and inventory control; schedule and expedite part movement. Coordinate with Quality and suppliers to process non-conforming material, including inventory control activities, RMA assignment, and shipping paperwork. Collaborate across teams to ensure project goals and deliverables meet company quality standards. Identify, track, manage, and help resolve project issues. Maintain an in-depth understanding of projects and related contractual, technical, and quality documentation. Support proposal and pricing efforts. Manage material logistics and vendor relations; support the purchasing lifecycle with Accounting, Receiving, and Program Management. Contribute to process improvement initiatives. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment Professional office environment using standard equipment (e.g., laptop computers, photocopiers).
