RMC is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer to support the Enterprise Systems (ES) Department of the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic Service Centers, primarily within the Data Center and Cloud Hosting Services (DC2HS) Division in Charleston, SC. This role requires close collaboration with system administrators, network engineers, software developers, service desk analysts, and other on-site personnel to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable cloud solutions for mission-critical government systems. Key Responsibilities Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure and services using AWS, ensuring alignment with government standards and project requirements. Administer and support AWS services, including S3, IAM, EC2, Beanstalk, Service Catalog, VPC, CloudFront, RDS, and CloudFormation, handling tasks such as provisioning, lifecycle management, security, and troubleshooting. Implement and manage cloud-based load balancing, SSL certificate management, and DNS configuration. Support cloud operations and sustainment, including patching, vulnerability remediation (RHEL, Windows, Apache, Active Directory), and helpdesk ticket resolution for AWS-related issues. Plan and review application architecture in collaboration with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors. Ensure compliance with government information assurance standards (DISA STIGs, NIST 800-53), manage IAVA, and support auditing and accreditation processes. Oversee VPNs, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and associated security technologies. Facilitate device transition planning, including IP plan review, accurate device positioning within DHA Security Architecture Taxonomy, and ports/protocols/services (PPS) management. Coordinate with vendors and government partners (SPAWAR, AFNET) to support device transitions, firewall rule interpretation, and network troubleshooting. Regularly engage with all stakeholders to anticipate needs and provide proactive support and information. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as engineering or mathematics (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems). Minimum of 7-10 years of experience supporting system administration for DoD or Federal Programs. At least three (3) years of technical experience in systems engineering or systems administration within an enterprise hosting environment in the cloud, supporting multiple interconnected systems and enterprise managed services. This experience may be concurrent with other experience requirements. Expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure, including designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based solutions. Proficiency in AWS administrative tasks across S3, IAM, EC2, Beanstalk, Service Catalog, VPC, CloudFront, RDS, and CloudFormation. Demonstrated experience with major Cloud Service Providers (CSPs), particularly AWS, in system design, deployment, and management. At least one (1) of the following IAT Level II certifications: CompTIA Security+ or CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP) or Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP). Cloud certification (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified Azure Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, or equivalent). An Active DoD Secret security clearance is required to start.   Preferred Skills Familiarity with cloud computing models (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS), AWS core services (such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform). Strong background in networking, systems administration, VPNs, IPS, and troubleshooting in cloud and hybrid environments.
