POSITION SUMMARY: The Mohs Histotech will play a critical role in providing high-quality histotechnical services for Mohs micrographic surgery, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and quality control in the processing of tissue specimens. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare and cut horizontal and vertical frozen sections using the Mohs technique. Maintain and operate histology laboratory equipment, including the cryostat. Process, embed, and stain tissue specimens accurately following established protocol. Map and analyze tissue specimens as outlined in the applicable CLIA guidelines. Prepare slides for review by the surgeon, ensuring the highest quality for diagnosis. Monitor and maintain quality control standards throughout the histological processing. Accurately document all processes and results in the Mohs database and other required logbooks. Ensure proper tissue disposal and adhere to safety protocols as mandated by OSHA and CLIA. Collaborate effectively with surgical and clinical staff to optimize patient care and operational efficiency. Participate in internal quality assurance programs and maintain compliance with all regulatory standards. Perform other related duties as assigned to support the laboratory and clinical operations. Requirements EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent under CLIA guidelines for high complexity testing. Minimum of 3 years of experience in Mohs histotechnology is required. Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Histotechnologist (HTL) is preferred. Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
