You will work within a fast-paced team delivering end-to-end software processing of Overhead Persistent InfraRed (OPIR) sensor data for Missile Warning, Missile Defense, Battlespace Awareness, and Technical Intelligence. Candidates will develop, implement, and run engineering processes in support of a large Agile software development program. Candidates will provide engineering leadership to development teams including subcontractors and will be responsible for ensuring team work products meet program requirements. Responsibilities Leadership: Lead and oversee all technical aspects of the OPIR framework system design, development, integration, testing, and deployment. Establish standards: Set technical standards and processes for data handling, quality, and integrity to ensure all system development complies with mission and regulatory requirements. Technical oversight: Support engineering review boards and provide technical direction to ensure the integrity of deliverables and the overall system Communicate with stakeholders: Act as the primary technical interface between the engineering team, program management, senior leadership, and external customers. Present complex technical concepts and project status clearly. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing NYSDEC Spill projects, Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in support of real estate transactions and managing sites in the NYSDEC Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) including Site Characterizations/ Remedial Investigations, Remedial Alternative Analysis/Remedial Design work and remediation projects. Prior experience with assessing feasibility/cost and detailed design for excavation and off-site disposal projects, in-situ chemical injections (oxidant and reductant approaches), sub-slab depressurization systems, and other remedial systems is required. The successful candidate will work with junior engineers, geologists and environmental scientists to design and manage field work including groundwater, soil, soil vapor, and surface water sampling, manage and evaluate field and lab data, supervise contractors and drillers, and support the preparation of reports and conduct review of reports developed by junior staff.
