The Johns Hopkins CIR is looking for healthy volunteers to participate in an outpatient and inpatient Shigella and ETEC Vaccine study. The purpose of this study is to test an investigational oral vaccine call ShigETEC to prevent diarrheal illness cause by Shigella and ETEC bacteria that cause traveler's diarrhea. If you are between the ages of 18-50 you may be eligible to participate. The study is approximately 1 year and requires the following: • 2 screening visits • 6 outpatient visits • 10-day inpatient stay • 4 phone calls Eligible people will be compensated up to $5,100 for participation. POSITION TITLE: Nurse Manager REPORTS TO (TITLE): Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) PAY SCALE: $130k - $157k annually (exempt position) DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: In addition to Registered Nurse duties, the Nurse Manager (NM) is responsible for unit operations, fiscal and staff management, managing patient care services and coordinating staff scheduling.  The Nurse Manager will support and direct nursing staff assignments and facilitate communication with other disciplines, departments and community resources.  This includes direct supervision of employees and conducting performance evaluations.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Unit Operations Oversee unit operations including but not limited to, timely completion and review of multidisciplinary treatment plans (MDTP); checking logs (refrigerator, emergency cart log, Point of Care (POC) testing, legal tracking log); and accuracy of patient Kardex. Audit all seclusion or manual hold interventions on assigned shift. Monitor inventory of office, medical, and patient care supplies. Request replenishment of supplies as needed. Examples include, but are not limited to, Absent Without Leave (AWOL) patients, 911 or urgent ambulance transfers, patient injuries, staff injuries, and incidents involving law enforcement. Gather and compile data for daily shift and routine reporting. Prepare shift report and review with oncoming Nursing Supervisor and forward copy to Chief Nursing Officer. Routine reports include Shift Summary, Bed Control, and Incident Reports.  Prepare and investigate Incident Reports (IR) in an accurate and timely fashion; follow up with staff education to prevent reoccurring incidents. Maintain a clutter-free working environment.   Fiscal and Staff Management Oversee staff assignments to prevent unnecessary overtime and ensure appropriate staffing levels based on census and acuity assessments. Manage appropriate staffing levels in conjunction with Staffing Coordinator. Report any staffing concerns to the Chief Nursing Officer. Document approved overtime on employee time adjustment forms. Directly supervise nursing staff on assigned shift. The Nursing Manager collects staff performance data from the Nursing Supervisor to ensure proper supervision and to provide accurate and meaningful introductory and annual performance evaluations. Review performance evaluations with the Chief Nursing Officer before reviewing with staff. Collaborate with Chief Nursing Officer to address performance concerns or potential need for staff disciplinary measures.
