Description

We are seeking a dedicated Fire Inspection Technician to perform inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm and suppression systems in compliance with Wisconsin state codes and NFPA standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in fire protection systems and preferably hold a NICET Level I certification in Fire Alarm Systems or Inspection and Testing of Fire Protection Systems. This role involves working with commercial and industrial clients to ensure fire safety systems are fully operational and compliant. Responsibilities: Conduct inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, and other fire protection equipment in accordance with NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and Wisconsin state regulations. Identify and document deficiencies in fire systems, providing recommendations for repairs or upgrades. Perform troubleshooting and basic repairs on fire alarm panels, detectors, pull stations, and related components. Prepare detailed inspection reports, including findings, corrective actions, and system status, for clients and regulatory authorities. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal fire codes, as well as industry standards. Communicate effectively with clients to explain inspection results, system functionality, and necessary follow-up actions. Maintain accurate records of inspections, service calls, and equipment inventories. Adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Stay current on Wisconsin fire codes, NFPA standards, and advancements in fire protection technology. Assist with training or mentoring junior technicians as needed. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in fire protection or electronics preferred. NICET Level I certification in Fire Alarm Systems or Inspection and Testing of Fire Protection Systems strongly preferred (or willingness to obtain within 12 months). 1-2 years of experience in fire system inspections, testing, or maintenance preferred. Knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and Wisconsin fire codes. Familiarity with fire alarm panels, sprinkler systems, and suppression equipment from major brands (e.g., Simplex, Notifier, Siemens). Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and customer service skills for interacting with clients and team members. Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to travel to job sites across Wisconsin. Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings as required for state licensing or client requirements. Preferred Skills: NICET Level II certification or progress toward it. Experience with low voltage systems or basic electrical knowledge. Familiarity with fire suppression systems (e.g., clean agent, CO2, or foam systems). Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or at heights. Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings. Drivers will handle clients in wheelchairs and operate wheelchair lifts and ramps on a daily basis. Due to the nature of our services and diverse clientele, Paratransit Driver positions require a flexible schedule.
