About the Role
The Shareholder Services Office Controller position is a key role for our growing family office. You will oversee all family office accounting, prepare financial statements, and assist with various tax functions. Since ICBD is a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and expanding business, you will have the opportunity to work closely with leaders across the underlying businesses and consistently be exposed to new lines of business and learning opportunities. Key Responsibilities
Complete month, quarter and year-end closing processes, including preparation and input of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and revenue summaries
Compile and distribute monthly personal and office financial statements in a proactive and timely manner.
Research and resolve balance sheet and income statement discrepancies, respond to ad-hoc requests, and assist president and CFO with research for potential investments
Aggregate all financial information required to generate month-end balance sheets and income statements for the family office
Serve as the initial point of contact for inquiries, problems and exceptions related to the review of account reconciliations and financial reporting
Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of internal accounting systems and policies and procedures to ensure operations remain in compliance with regulations and reporting requirements
Prepare various management reports to use in financial statements and schedules that may be deemed for auditors
Review, monitor, and manage a significant number of bank accounts, credit cards, and expense reimbursements that include funding and transfers, for the closely held family office entities
Implement, improve, and maintain scalable processes and controls suitable for a high-growth, multi-entity environment
Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, communication, and leadership that coincides with the high-level quality of work for daily, monthly, and annual accounting operations, including monthly close and financial reporting between consolidated companies
Partner with executive leadership to ensure and support various strategic initiatives, including quarterly budgeting and financial planning for upcoming investments and projects
Evaluate current software and processes to identify opportunities for automation or optimization
Requirements
CPA with a degree in accounting or finance; (MBA a plus)
5+ years of accounting experience (public and private) with exposure to individual, trust, LLC, partnership, corporate, fund, investment and private equity accounting
Previous experience in a family office with varied businesses and investments preferred
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Word/Power Point and accounting software (Netsuite, QuickBooks, etc.)
Experience in a startup or high-growth environment strongly preferred
On-site presence required in our downtown Fort Lauderdale headquarters
Technical & Operational Expertise
Strong working knowledge of GAAP, multi-entity consolidations, and intercompany accounting
Familiarity with family office reporting
Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and reporting tools
Knowledge of transfer pricing and multi-jurisdictional accounting a plus
