Job Title: Oral Surgery Dental Assistant Location: Riccobene Associates – Garner, NC Schedule: Tuesday – Thursday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM | Friday, 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM Reports To: Oral Surgeon / Office Manager Be a Vital Part of a Team That Puts Patients First At Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry, we are passionate about delivering high-quality, compassionate care—and we know it starts with the right team. We're currently seeking an experienced and dependable Oral Surgery Dental Assistant to join our growing team in Garner, NC. This is a great opportunity for someone with sedation and surgical assisting experience to work alongside an expert oral surgeon in a supportive, patient-focused environment. Key Responsibilities: Assist the oral surgeon with surgical procedures, including extractions, dental implants, and biopsies. Provide chairside assistance during IV sedation and nitrous oxide cases, monitoring patient vitals and comfort in accordance with safety protocols. Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, supplies, and operatory setup with strict adherence to infection control and sterilization standards. Take and process digital dental radiographs (X-rays). Educate patients on pre- and post-operative instructions and sedation protocols. Monitor patients pre-, intra-, and post-operatively, recognizing and responding appropriately to patient needs. Maintain accurate and detailed surgical and patient records. Collaborate closely with the front office and surgical teams for seamless patient care and scheduling. Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and all clinical safety standards. Requirements What You Bring: High school diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred. Minimum 1 year of experience in oral surgery and assisting with sedation procedures (IV and/or nitrous oxide) strongly preferred. Active CPR/BLS certification required; sedation monitoring certification a plus (if applicable in NC). Current radiology certification as required by North Carolina regulations. Strong communication skills and ability to comfort patients during high-anxiety procedures. Detail-oriented, dependable, and a team player. The ideal candidate will have previous assisting experience as a dental assistant (ortho preferred), be a self-starter and have a positive, friendly attitude.
