Summary of Position: The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality menu items according to Harold & Belle’s standards. This role involves ensuring consistency in food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, and supporting kitchen operations to deliver exceptional dining experiences. The Line Cook reports to the Manager on Duty and works closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient food service. Job Duties & Responsibilities: · Prepare and cook food items according to established recipes and standards to ensure consistent quality. · Maintain a clean and organized work area, including countertops, utensils, and cooking equipment, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines. · Follow portion control and presentation specifications to ensure that each dish meets the restaurant’s quality standards. · Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels, replenishing supplies as needed, and reporting any discrepancies or shortages to the Supervisor. · Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food preparation and delivery. · Follow safety procedures for handling and storing food, as well as for operating kitchen equipment. · Participate in daily prep work, including chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and preparing sauces. · Support the Kitchen Supervisor in maintaining cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment and storage areas. · Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to coordinate food orders and special requests. · Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act. · Assist in training new kitchen staff and provide guidance on proper cooking techniques and kitchen procedures. · Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Supervisor or management. Qualifications: · Minimum of 2 years of experience in a kitchen or food preparation role preferred. · Knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen equipment. · Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistent quality in food preparation. · Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. · Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team. · Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining high standards of food quality. · High school diploma or GED required. · Must have a California Food Safety Food Handlers Certification. · Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods (up to 10 hours). · Must be available to work nights, weekends, and some holidays. Physical Demands: · Prolonged standing on hard surfaces, occasional lifting of supplies and materials, and exposure to hot equipment. · Frequent use of hands and arms to reach, grasp, and manipulate objects. · Ability to work in a hot, cold, and noisy environment.
