Description

Saint Bridget School is looking to hire a Digital Literacy teacher. The Digital Literacy teacher will oversee our school library and provide instruction for basic technology skills and computer coding to students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. In addition, the Digital Literacy teacher will work closely with classroom teachers to integrate the core curriculum into the development and planning of all technology lessons. This position is a 4 days/week position for in-person learning. Qualifications: • Elementary teaching certificate preferred Roles and Responsibilities: • Support the goals, philosophy, and mission of Saint Bridget School • Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and colleagues • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues • Promote a positive learning environment that includes behavioral management techniques appropriate to the needs of all students • Plan, develop, and evaluate lessons for computer, keyboard, internet, and coding skills to students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 • Develop lessons that include differentiation techniques • Integrate the core content objectives in lessons as much as possible • Teach internet safety, including personal responsibility for technology use • Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity • Assist students in connecting to technological principles in the real world • Keep abreast of developments in the technology field by reading literature/journals, talking with colleagues, and professional development • Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, projects, etc. • Maintain and monitor student usage of computer lab equipment • Be aware of and monitor internet usage for students as outlined by School policy • Work with teachers to continually develop effective lesson plans using technology • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the computer lab materials • Perform duties assigned by the administration in accordance with School policies, practices, and procedures, and the negotiated agreement • Work collaboratively with the other staff members in the building to assist them with educational technology needs • Develop innovative lessons to challenge 21st-century learners • Follow all standard procedures as outlined in the Archdiocese of Boston Teacher Job Description Additional Information • Proficient in using a variety of technology during daily lessons and instruction to enrich and differentiate instruction. • Prior successful experience in student teaching or classroom teaching. • Positive references and recommendations. • Basic understanding and acceptance of Catholic school philosophy, goals, and objectives. • At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred. • Bachelor degree preferred. • Citizenship, residency or work visa required

The Youth Transition Services Facilitator assists teens and young adults with disabilities, ages 14 to 22, to acquire knowledge, skills and supports necessary to prepare for a fulfilling, self-directed life after high school. Working as part BCIL’s Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP) and Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) Programs, the Youth Transition Services Facilitator will be responsible for working with students individually as well as in groups in school classrooms throughout our service area, in the BCIL office, or remotely, through online video meeting platforms. Services provided include information and referral, peer mentoring, advocacy, skills training, and other supportive services. This position requires consistent in-person presence in order to most effectively work with students, as well as to collaborate other team members and school educators. The Boston Center for Independent Living (BCIL) is a frontline civil rights organization led by people with disabilities that advocates to eliminate discrimination, isolation, and segregation. Our mission is to enhance the independence and inclusion of people with disabilities through advocacy, information and referral, peer support, skills training, PCA, and transitional services. Responsibilities: · Provides peer mentoring, skills training, information and referral, and advocacy to teens and young adults with disabilities individually or in groups. · May meet with students and families/guardians, individually, to develop service plans. · Delivers workshops and classes according to lesson plans provided. · Leads/co-facilitates community-based observations, employer site tours and other events. · Provides 1:1 or small group planning and/or instructional sessions. Manages group dynamics and ensures that environment and facilitation strategies are supportive to all learners. · Ensures timely and thorough data collection and reporting (WILD, Statistical reports and Pre-ETS Student Progress Notes and other reports, as required) · Serves as a role model for young adults with disabilities · Performs other related duties as assigned. Desired qualifications: · Member of the population to be served or extensive experience in a school or independent living setting. · Commitment to independent living philosophy essential. · Experience and/or willingness to work with and learn from youth with a wide range of disabilities; ability to establish a mentoring connection with consumers. · Bi-lingual in Spanish; Mandarin; Vietnamese a plus. · Willingness to further knowledge through trainings and workshops throughout employment. · Strong oral, written, listening, and time-management skills and ability to take direction and follow through on assigned tasks. · Strong computer skills and the ability to enter data and complete reports. · Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude. · Creativity and ability to work as a member of a team. · Ability to model clear professional boundaries, social skills, and work etiquette. · Commitment to independent living philosophy. · Ability to travel throughout BCIL service area (driver’s license not required) and meet with consumers in their home or other settings. Equipment Operated: Computers, copier, scanner, Microsoft Office, printer, and other office equipment/programs. Working Environment: The office area is a shared workspace. Verbal communication can be heard from other staff in adjoining areas. The job responsibilities of this position will primarily be conducted in schools and the community.
