General Overview: The Service Manager oversees the front-of-house operations to ensure a smooth and enjoyable dining experience for guests, fostering high service standards and efficient team collaboration. General Duties & Responsibilities: Oversee FOH operations during service, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows. Greet guests upon arrival and periodically check tables to ensure satisfaction, resolving concerns promptly. Assign and manage server and support staff sections to maintain balanced coverage. Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate daily specials, promotions, or service expectations. Monitor table turnover times to maximize seating capacity and efficiency. ·Ensure FOH staff maintain proper uniforms, grooming standards, and professional behavior during shifts. Monitor staff performance during shifts, providing real-time feedback to improve service quality. Coordinate with the kitchen to ensure timely food delivery and resolve ticket delays. Assist in developing floor plans and seating arrangements for efficient service flow. Manage and resolve seating or reservation conflicts during busy periods. Monitor FOH cleanliness, ensuring tables, floors, and restrooms are always presentable. Oversee the setup and breakdown of dining areas for special events or large parties. Assist in resolving guest complaints and escalate issues to the General Manager when necessary. Work with the General Manager to implement strategies for improving the overall guest experience. Track FOH inventory, such as glassware, napkins, and utensils, to ensure sufficient stock levels. Qualifications Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business administration, management, or a related discipline is often preferred. Some organizations may require an advanced degree (e.g., MBA) for higher-level positions. Extensive Experience: Several years of relevant managerial experience, typically including a proven track record of success in increasingly responsible roles. The exact number of years may vary depending on the industry and the level of the general manager position. Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities, including the capacity to lead and inspire teams, make strategic decisions, and manage day-to-day operations effectively. Financial Acumen: Proficiency in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. General managers are often responsible for the financial performance and profitability of their operations. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with employees, customers, suppliers, and senior management.
