Green Lake School Age Program (GLSA) is a state licensed, nonprofit, social emotional learning program based in nonviolent communication*, dedicated to creating meaningful relationships with children and to working in partnership with families to help raise empathetic, socially aware, happy, and emotionally intelligent individuals. Have fun while expanding your skills! GLSA's after school program engages children ages 5 - 12 in fun, community-oriented activities organized around themes, indoor and outdoor play. We are within walking distance from Green Lake Park, and we take full advantage of our neighborhood playground. We provide paid training: social emotional, non-violent communication, and career development in early education and school-age programs. We also reimburse for all training costs and job requirements. This is a great position for future teachers, early childhood educators, child and family therapists, and social workers, OR anyone who believes they can make a difference in children's lives! Responsibilities ● Plan and implement weekly curriculum and activities schedule with other team members ● Create daily schedules taking into account children’s age groups and interests ● Lead FUN recreational and educational activities through play, games, and explorations ● Set up and maintain equipment ● Assist children with conflicts using emotion coaching and NVC ● Respond to the developmental needs of the children ● Provide opportunities to meet the social emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of the children ● Maintain a safe, healthy, and positive environment for children and staff ● Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed ● Keep accurate incident logs and documentation ● Be available: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 2PM - 6PM & Monday, Wednesday 1PM - 6pm, as well as a handful of 8 hour days during school breaks, and training.
