WSP is seeking an Environmental Technician to work in the greater Cheyenne, WY area to support our environmental operations and maintenance practice. Our ideal candidate has good mechanical and electrical skills as well as good written and verbal communication skills. We prefer experience with operation and maintenance of environmental systems but are open to training the right candidate with mechanical and electrical skills. This is a full time benefitted position Location: We are open to an individual who lives in or near Fort Collins, CO, Loveland, CO, Laramie, WY or Cheyenne, WY Key Responsibilities • Will work under the supervision and mentorship of a Senior Environmental Scientist • Will travel to project sites primarily in the greater Cheyenne, WY area. Roughly 95% of work is anticipated to be performed in the field • Operate and maintain various remediation systems (groundwater and soil) throughout Wyoming and northern Colorado. Systems include pump and treat, air sparging and soil vapor extraction. Duties include troubleshooting, routine and non-routine operations and maintenance (e.g., electric motors, mechanical pumps, electrical power supply systems, etc.), field testing and recording. • Assists in site characterization and monitoring field efforts including collecting soil, groundwater and air samples. • Perform accurate and appropriate data gathering and create clearly written and understandable daily field reports in support of performed field activities • Work with outside vendors and subcontractors, with the support of the internal team, to obtain required system spare parts, chemicals, sampling kits, etc. • Be a proactive thinker and problem solver. Thinking ahead of maintenance required or fixing system issues before they have a bigger performance impact. Schedule tasks spread over numerous sites to maintain reliable systems to meet compliance requirements. Basic/Required Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent. • Minimum 3 + years of experience in construction, equipment operation and maintenance or remediation system maintenance • Good mechanical and electrical skills • Self starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well work collaboratively as part of a team to meet business objectives. • Good communicator to accurately detail and explain issues and concerns with equipment to team members through a variety of methods (oral and written, in person and remotely) to collaborate on troubleshooting remedial systems • Flexible to work outside normal business hours as required. • Ability to understand procedural manuals and execute work orders. • Attention to detail. • Ability to follow directions. • Must pass physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy Preferred Qualifications • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification. • High-level mechanical and electrical aptitude. • Experience operating and maintaining soil vapor extraction (SVE), groundwater capture, adsorption (granular activated carbon, ion exchange, etc.), In-Well Air Stripping (IWAS), chemical oxidation (e.g., hydrogen peroxide/ozone, permanganate, persulfate, etc.) and thermal treatment (e.g., thermal and catalytic oxidizer) systems. Physical Demands • Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions. • Field activities may require working in specialized protective equipment supplied by employer. Candidate must be physically capable of performing tasks in such equipment. • Ability to lift 40 pounds. • Close, distance, and peripheral vision; normal auditory function. • Must complete employment physical demonstrating ability to meet job requirements, including the ability to wear a respirator, as required. • Completion of annual or bi-annual employment physical, as required. Expected Salary (Colorado only): $55,000 - $70,000 (Hourly $26.00 - $33.65) WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
