In this position, you will be responsible for the layout and validation of photonic integrated circuits, while developing software in a script-based layout framework to automate layout procedures such as design-rule checking (DRC), layout-versus-schematic (LVS), and mask preparation. As a Photonics Layout Automation Engineer, you would play a key role in developing cutting-edge solutions for advanced photonic integrated circuits. Responsibilities Own the layout of high-performance photonic integrated circuits using script-driven layout tools in Python. Collaborate to define the layout requirements, including schematic capture, fabrication process definition, and device component selection. Requirements Either 2+ years of relevant work experience or equivalent experience through an advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Understanding of basic programming principles including object-oriented and functional programming. Experience developing software collaboratively, using modern version control tools like Git or SVN. Familiarity with modern CI/CD development practices is a plus. Familiarity with Python and its package ecosystem (numpy/scipy, pytest, etc.) is preferred Experience with semiconductor schematic capture, layout, LVS, and DRC. Familiarity with KLayout is a plus.
