Location: Los Altos, CA 94024 Employment Type: Part-time (10–12 hours/week, with flexibility up to 15 hours) Proposed Start Date: ASAP Requirements: Maintain a smoke-free environment, pass background check, have reliable transportation, and a clean driving record. Proposed Schedule: 2–3 days per week, Monday–Thursday, flexible daytime hours. Description: We are a dual-career family in Los Altos with three school-aged children (15, 12, and 10), seeking a proactive and trustworthy House Manager to assist with household organization, meal preparation, errands, and light family support. Our ideal candidate is independent, dependable, and takes initiative- someone who can anticipate needs, follow through on details, and keep things running smoothly without requiring close supervision. You’ll work primarily in partnership with Mom, and coordinate tasks to help the household stay organized and efficient. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys planning and prepping family meals, creating order, managing projects, and being a reliable, behind-the-scenes support for a busy household. Key Responsibilities: Meal Planning & Preparation Plan and prepare 3–4 healthy family dinners per week (focus on balanced meals with a protein, vegetable, and carb). Shop for groceries and household staples, including Costco runs for bulk items. Adapt meals for dietary needs (one child is lactose intolerant). Keep the kitchen clean and organized after meal prep. Family Support & Driving Assistance Provide occasional pickup/drop-off support for school and activities (all within a 5–10 mile radius). Use a family car or personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed) for driving assistance. Provide light supervision when kids have friends over. Household & Administrative Support Schedule and manage household appointments (dentist, orthodontist, etc.). Add reminders and appointments to the family’s Skylight calendar. Coordinate and research home maintenance projects as needed (e.g., gutter cleaning, deck repair, exterior painting). Handle online shopping and vendor communication as needed. Run local errands such as returns, post office, and store drop-offs. Household Maintenance & Projects Support with family laundry including washing, drying, folding and putting away (e.g., clothing, bedding, towels). Rotate and restock household essentials (e.g., paper goods, laundry supplies, cleaning supplies, etc). Manage occasional deep-clean or organization projects (e.g., pantry, garage, storage shed). Oversee or liaise with service providers (cleaners, landscapers, etc.). Occasionally help keep family vehicles clean, fueled, and organized. What We’re Looking For: Independent and proactive—can see what needs doing and take ownership. Reliable and trustworthy with strong follow-through. Warm and personable, but comfortable working autonomously. Tech-savvy (comfortable using shared apps and the Skylight calendar system). Strong communicator—clear, respectful, and organized. Additional Details: Hours may fluctuate slightly week-to-week depending on projects or needs. Family prefers to maintain flexibility around holidays and travel schedules. Some projects may include: Minor non-structural repairs; Yard cleanup (up to 15ft from home); Exterior Painting; Minor fence repair; Exterior ramps and handrails; Minor glass pane repair; Minor Exterior stair, ramp or porch repair; Trim trees up to 7ft off the ground Position Summary: The Home Preservation & Repair Coordinator is responsible for the oversight and management of all activities and tasks associated with GAHH's Home Repair Program. This includes on-site administrative, on-site work, ordering and maintaining supplies, volunteer training, safety, and the supervision and directing of skilled and unskilled volunteers and attending any meetings and committees necessary. The Home Preservation & Repair Coordinator will coordinate with the Repair Program Manager and the Construction Admin Assistant regarding all project documentation, including, but not limited to project budget, schedules, assessments, applications, photos, and any other documents and reports required for the program. Key Responsibilities: Maintain positive relationships with volunteers, sub-contractors, and neighbors. Assist the Repair Supervisor, if needed, with qualifying homeowners with the application process Research and implement building codes and guidelines and apply to each project. Coordinate with the Repair Supervisor regarding the maintenance of safe worksite in compliance with GAHH & HFHI safety requirements. Provide volunteer orientation for safety, skills, and daily tasks. Supervise all work-site activities while enforcing worksite safety and creating a fun and inviting place for volunteers to work. Oversight and maintenance of tools and trailer. This includes inventory, storage, repair, and replacement. Secure construction sites and related storage facilities Work with the Construction Admin Assistant to maintain all project documents as required by GAHH guidelines and project requirements Organize, document, and submit project data receipts to the required department in a timely manner. Maintain positive working relationships with Supervisor, Staff, and Volunteers. Adheres to project timelines Qualifications: Must have a High School Diploma/GED plus 1-years' experience in residential maintenance and/or similar repair programs. Exp with worksite safety and code compliance a plus. Position requires exceptional organizational and leadership skills, and general building knowledge and carpentry skills. This position requires flexibility, open-mindedness, and collaboration and teamwork skills including compromise and negotiation skills, the ability to set and communicate goals, the ability to delegate tasks and to follow up on the progress of each project. Interpersonal relationships and skills such as strong communications skills (written, verbal and listening), able to communicate clearly and concisely to a variety of individuals, must be compassionate and objective when dealing with members of the community, strong decision-making skills based on sound analysis, problem-solving skills, open to new ideas and innovative ideas, and willingness to investigate alternative solutions to routine and unusual problems.
