Important areas of support include safety, social interactions, hygiene routines, and emotional regulation. At times, they may display challenging behaviors such as elopement, property destruction, or physical aggression, making it essential that they have a highly qualified caregiver who can provide patience, consistent prompting, and experience in behavior management. Caregivers can best support them by practicing safe and appropriate interactions, encouraging self-regulation strategies (such as deep breathing, using sensory tools, or taking breaks), providing visual schedules for routines, and engaging them in community activities outside the home. You’ll also help with mealtime prep, safe feeding, and encouraging healthy routines—all while ensuring dignity and respect are at the center of care. 🎉 Adventures and Outings: Supporting members in the community—whether it’s a walk in the park, grocery shopping, attending appointments, or grabbing ice cream. You’ll make sure activities are safe, enjoyable, and accessible. 🧠 Life Skills and Confidence Building: Teaching and modeling skills like cooking simple meals, practicing money management, following step-by-step instructions, and strengthening social cues. This may include using visual aids, step-by-step prompting, or behavior support strategies to guide positive engagement. 📋 Daily Check-Ins and Progress Tracking: Monitoring health and wellness, documenting medication reminders, noting behavioral changes, and celebrating daily wins. Physical Therapy Aide Job Duties: Supports physical therapy care delivery by preparing treatment areas, patients, equipment, and materials; under the supervision of physical therapists. -Prepares treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols. -Prepares patients for physical therapy treatment by welcoming and comforting, providing and/or assisting patients in physical therapy apparel. -Provides information to patients by answering questions and requests. -Assists patients by applying heat packs; paraffin dips; helping patients with exercise equipment. -Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. -Provides equipment and supplies by sterilizing and delivering equipment and supplies to the treatment area; positioning equipment for therapist access; positioning patients on equipment. -Maintains physical therapy supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
