Tissue Culture Lab Technician Department: Tissue Culture Schedule: M-F 7am-3:30pm Hourly - Non exempt Overview: The Tissue Culture Lab technician’s job is critical to the day-to-day operations of the department. Technicians ensure that plant tissue culture work is done appropriately and in a timely manner to ensure optimal health and growth of the plants is aligned with the timeline of all upcoming Mother plant stock needs. The Tissue Culture Lab Technician is responsible for assisting in all plant tissue culture related tasks including but not limited to: Initiation of explants from mother plants Transfer of existing plant tissue cultures to fresh medium Will be responsible for selection of appropriate media for optimal plant culture growth Can use aseptic sterile techniques with minimal contamination Preparation of media formulations Assist in grinding and logging and tracking all plant waste material Responsible for sterilizing work spaces, this includes vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing Responsible for communicating any issues involving plant health, IPM concerns, and issues regarding faulty or broken equipment to propagation leads Able to take direction and instructions to ensure quality and efficiency standards are met Physical Requirements: Required to work on a ladder after receiving proper training Required to lift and move up to 50 LBS Comfortable working in High Heat (85 F) and High Humidity (75RH) Able to stand for extended periods of time 6 ½ to 8 hours a day Able to keep arms and shoulders at chest height or higher Able to work in an environment with kief in the air BENEFITS 50% discount on product Med card discount through Medwell!
