As a caregiver/companion you will be part of a cherished team that provides day and night, non-medical assistance for a woman whose developmental disabilities are supported with our complete care. You will help to ensure her safety, comfort, and well-being by working closely with her parents, who will actively supervise her care in our home and support the caregiving steps as you learn to anticipate her needs. You and her other caregivers will share best practices to create and maintain a cooperative work environment. RESPONSIBILITIES • Planning and preparing meals, processing food and feeding. • Showering, dressing, incontinence care and grooming. • Laundry and light housekeeping. • Transferring from bed to wheelchair or bath chair with a motorized lift. • Repositioning - you must be able to support her weight – less than 70 pounds. • Supporting her with spontaneous and planned activities to enjoy at home and in the community. • Driving (optional but a plus). With an excellent driving record and confident driving skills, you may take her out for activities and appointments in her vehicle. Alternatively, with pre-scheduling, you will take Metro ParaCruz or Lift Line. • Maintaining a clean and organized environment. • Communicating effectively with her parents and other caregivers to ensure her needs are met. They must be able to perform motor tasks necessary for delivering general aesthetic care and emergency interventions, such as first aid or CPR. Additionally, candidates must be able to carry out the motor movements required for aesthetic injections and procedures, which involve coordination of fine motor skills, and effective use of both touch and vision. We are working with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to address the backlog of these exams, and there are currently a considerable number of exams available in your area. These Medical Disability Exams are crucial in the VA process for determining the benefits Veterans can receive because of service-connected health issues.
