Production Assistant--Paid Intern for Classical Music Performance (Downtown)
260 Broadway, New York, NY 10007, USA
Please note: This is a part-time, hybrid position (not a fixed schedule, probably more remote than in-person) with flexible hours between now and mid-to-late fall (end date depending on performance date tbd), around 10-12 weeks total with a break during the summer. There is a stipend of $1,000 rather than an hourly salary. Starts immediately. • This is a good opportunity for someone who has or would like experience in fundraising, marketing, publicity, and to augment their income. I will write an evaluation for school or a reference for employment for a job well done. • The ideal candidate has the following skills and qualities: - excellent English, both spoken and written - fundamental pc skills (Microsoft Word and Excel), graphic skills a plus (i.e. Canva) - creative researcher, enterprising, shows initiative - organized, focused, detail-oriented, responsible - resourceful and motivated - willing to pound the pavement (literally--flyering, for example) - can both work independently and take direction well - a people person, with a positive, enthusiastic attitude, and a pleasant demeanor - a love of classical music is not necessary, but a plus • I’m a composer working on a chamber music project featuring a piece about Edith Stein, a German Jewish philosopher who became a nun and was later murdered at Auschwitz. I'm passionate about the project, and genuine interest from you in some aspect of it will make a difference in your being able to contribute in a meaningful way. • Although it's being funded by the New York State Council on the Arts and Manhattan Arts Grants, the project could use more money, hence the fundraising component. • Your duties will be varied and include but not be limited to finding a presenting partner or free venue, identifying and contacting businesses and individuals about contributing money, developing free or very low-cost marketing and promotion to increase attendance, including using social media and doing other promotion, crafting and disseminating a crowdfunding campaign, getting media coverage before and at the event, creating and managing the performance website, ticket sales, and other general help. • The position will only require around 6-8 hours per week (depending on the workload); days and hours are somewhat flexible. It is available immediately and requires someone who plans to be in NYC or close (i.e. Jersey City/Hoboken) through the fall, other than going away for a few days. • Resumé schmesumé. Tell me in your email why you’re interested in the position, who you are, and I’ll assess how well you write it. You can tell me in your email the highlights of what your resume would cover. Please include your availability: what days and times you can work, and how soon you could start—the sooner the better! Be sure to include your email and phone number as well so I can contact you. Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
