2010 VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI for sale, 213k miles. The Great: The car has a full EGR/DPF delete via a 3” turbo-back custom exhaust with downpipe from Darksider Development. It sounds like a growly baby tractor, and is quick. It has a stage 2 tune from Malone, which brings it to 175HP and 308 ft/lb (from 140 HP & 236ft/lb stock). Easiest driving manual transmission car I’ve ever driven. Gets 45mpg on the highway, and passes easily at 65. Tons of room inside, very comfortable on long trips. Clutch was replaced last year. I replaced the rear springs with the European towing package springs, so it sits slightly higher and you can load a lot of heavy stuff in the back without issues. Also, it has a U-Haul hitch mount on it, and with the torque it has, you could in theory tow another Sportwagen with it :) Comes with a separate set of 16” wheels with studded snow tires, new last year. AC blows cold, hot blows hot. Issues & Things to keep in mind: The biggest issue the car has is that it currently randomly shuts off, in that the motor loses all power and coasts down to 0 rpm. This is accompanied by a P2295 engine code. Everything else stays on, brakes & power steering continue to function, and the car will restart within a few seconds afterwards. This happens usually on low/mid-speed turns, but is not reproducible. I can go for weeks without it showing up, then have it shut off 3x in a day. It is almost certainly the high pressure fuel pump failing, but could also be the fuel pressure regulator OR lift pump in the gas tank. This is why the car is priced low, as this is a mechanic special. I drive the car every day around town and it is fine for that, but realistically, it is not super safe to drive until this issue is resolved. Hence, I wouldn’t buy this car unless you are a TDI person who wants to fix that problem. The right rear shock is leaking, though not badly, and makes noise on bumps. The steering rack makes a bit of clicking noise on some low-speed turns. The stereo does not work at all, it is just a black screen. I’d argue this should go in the positives section because I like hearing the exhaust, but reasonable people will disagree. The car has a reconstructed title. Clutch was replaced at 210k Timing belt & water pump were done at 190k Compressor for AC was replaced at 205k I’ve changed the oil at 5k intervals with high-mileage synthetic. It does burn about a quart every 1500 miles. I’ve owned the car since early 2020 and have loved the hell out of it, but I want to get into something AWD and boringly reliable.
