Structural Engineer

FHU is seeking an experienced construction project engineer for our Greenwood Village and Fort Collins offices with strong transportation construction project experience to act as owners’ representatives for our state D.O.T. and local municipal clients on their construction projects.    Duties and Responsibilities Primary duties and responsibilities are listed below; other duties may be assigned. Has the capability work on project sites to serve as Project Engineer in charge of the day-to-day administration of construction projects as an Owner’s representative.  May serve as a deputy project manager on larger projects Possesses technical competency to understand project design intent and to respond to contractor requests for information resolving project issues promptly Provides enforcement of the requirements of construction contracts including conducting inspections of the work and documenting any non-conforming work Strong understanding of CDOT construction administration practices as established in the Construction Manual, Local Agency Project Desk Reference and as requested by the client Evaluates requests for change orders and negotiates fair and reasonable costs for change orders.  Assists with the preparation of change orders Controls project documentation to ensure that contract requirements are met Reviews and approve concrete mix designs, traffic control plans, shop drawings and submittals Assists on design projects by providing construction expertise to our design teams; including: cost estimating, constructability, specification writing and quality control of plans, specification and estimate packages Leads a team of inspectors and materials testers on projects Requirements Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited four-year college Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience performing construction phase project management on public works transportation construction projects The ideal candidate will have a professional engineer’s license in Colorado, or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of date of hire. The salary for this position has a range of $85,000 - $125,000 annually. The actual offer will carefully consider a range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience. Applicants must have 5 years of experience in all facets of building exterior envelope, weatherproofing, masonry repair, historic preservation, landmarks, and roofing projects. Ability to work remotely (from home) and independently. Capable to perform visual inspections of exterior facades (from scaffolds and fire escapes) and preparation of the inspection reports including FISP/LL11 reports Ability to inspect and identify deterioration of the various types of the exterior facades Ability to produce a full set of facade repair drawings, details, bid forms, and specifications Construction Administration, including review of the AIA payment applications and change orders Capable of managing multiple projects at the same time Track the construction schedule and budget Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel Scaffold certification and OSHA 10 hour certification are preferred, otherwise must complete within three months from the date of hire, fees are covered by the Company Salary depends on qualifications and experience - $65,000 - $100,000

Reporting to the Discipline Leader, this position is responsible for leading a team of project managers, design professionals and technical support staff working with public sector (Municipal and State agency) clients and projects throughout the NY. The position is in our Syracuse, NY office. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Project development, client interaction, project management and technical design primarily for public sector clients (municipal, county, state and non-profit). Project management responsibilities include development of professional services proposals, management of projects and clients, development of technical approaches to projects, and participation in public presentations/engagement process. Develop projects with clients and then oversee and manage the project design and construction while interfacing with the client. Managing the project design requires interacting with less experience staff along with training and mentoring them. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering  15-20 years of practical experience in a professional consulting environment Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) NY is required. Candidate must be experienced in civil/environmental engineering with a preferred focus on all facets of municipal/public works engineering and water resources infrastructure. Effective communication skills using oral, graphic, and written forms. Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Ability to travel to project sites and work remotely as needed. Ability to manage workload and budgets as allocated. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate efficiently with teammates in different disciplines and different locations. Able to interact effectively with clients, project teams, and colleagues internally. Experience in project management and solid project financial management skills. Communications and analytical/problem solving skills are essential. Preferred Qualifications: Public Sector funding experience (NYSEFC, NYSDEC, WIIA, ETC.) for projects a plus. If you do not have grant writing/administration experience, we will train you.
