$700 / 6br - 300ft2 - Large room minutes to CMC/TESC/SPSCC/State Capitol WXXII (Mud Bay/Hwy 101)

address5510 Old Hwy 410 SW, Olympia, WA 98512, USA

Description

Clean, quiet, friendly house with many amenities provided and overall low cost of living. A rare vacancy! Please respond in the way asked below, so I know you are a real person looking for a place. Include your phone number to get a response. The room is very large (approx. 15x20 feet) and is on the second floor with a nice woodlands view. Room can be furnished or not, as you prefer, and if furnished includes a bed, dresser, desk, TV. Household amenities include high speed wireless internet. This room shares a full bath with one other room. Clean, quiet, (illegal) drug-free home. All smoking and/or vaping needs to be outside! The location is West Olympia edge of town, in a convenient rural/suburban setting. Only a 1 minute drive to the Highway 101 on-ramp at Mud Bay. 5 minutes to Capital Medical Center, 6-8 minutes to Westfield (Capital) Mall, Target, Planet Fitness, grocery stores (Safeway, Top Foods). 8 minutes to downtown Olympia State Capitol offices, 8-9 minutes to Tumwater, L&I, Airdustrial Park and Costco. 5 minutes to TESC (or a short bike ride), 7 minutes to SPSCC West Olympia/Tumwater campus. Please note: the house is NOT within easy *walking* distance of shops, restaurants, but is fair-weather bikeable to those places. You will need to have a car or be an enthusiastic all-weather bike commuter. If you are looking for an *urban* setting, walk to everything, right on busline, this place will NOT be a fit. A few years back, as a fit mid-50s male, I bike commuted in fair weather, and it took 15 minutes to Capital Mall, on the road bike @15mph or 17 minutes on the hybrid bike @13mph. The nearest bus stop is about a half-mile walk, to regional transit service, from Mason and Grays Harbor counties, which only stops there a handful of times per day. The nearest Intercity Transit bus stop with frequent service is 1.3 miles away, Mud Bay Park and Ride, or 2.1 miles to Harrison Ave & Greenwood Ln. First and foremost, the house is set up to help you be more successful and focused on whatever your mission is in life. You are writing the success story of your life, and your time here at this house will be a very enjoyable and productive chapter in your success story. You are mature in your words and deeds, considerate of others, and have something in your life that gets you up and going each day. A reliable income and paying on time is required as well. All work and no play would make Johnny/Jane a dull boy/girl. People are pretty busy around here, but we are always friendly and and certainly not antisocial. However, if you just turned 21 and a wild social life is priority #1 in your life, this isn't really a party house. On the other hand, if your social life is in the #3 to #5 range, after things like work, school, family, spiritual practice, etc., you'll probably like the environment here. Utilities and many shared household supplies are included at a reasonable flat monthly fee. Included are heat, lights, water, sewer, garbage, cable, wireless Internet. A lot of helpful extras keep your living expenses low. Shared supplies that come with the house include things like TP, laundry soap, dryer sheets, dishwasher soap, garbage bags, paper towels, cleaning supplies, and so forth (Utilities + shared supplies currently $120). The house has a large, appealing kitchen with all the essential convenient appliances. The star of the show is a Ninja XL air fryer, and there are two microwaves, a range, slow cookers, rice cookers, etc. Kitchen is well-stocked with silverware, dishes, pots, pans, good knives, cookie sheets, muffin tins, cake pans, and more. You get your own dedicated spaces in the pantry, refrigerator, and kitchen cupboards. Keeping the place clean is essential, so you can either take a rotating turn at shared space cleaning, normal stuff like kitchens, bathrooms, carpets, or pay a reasonable fee to have someone else do your share. Current fee is $75 per month OR 5 hours per month of accountable specific chores or projects. The house is located in a beautiful wooded setting, and sits on a large lot, with space for a garden, and some scenic walking paths right outside the door. It's within sight of Mud Bay, near the metal cows you see off Highway 101. During October-November salmon runs there is a salmon fishing hotspot that is a 10-minute walk from the house. All ages, races, sexes, orientations, (*legal*) occupations, political views, and spiritual views are welcome. Just be reliable and considerate of others. Please note: this house is a not an environment oriented around any particular group. Those who prefer an environment where others share your dietary preferences, political views, age group, or lifestyle would probably prefer a place that is organized around those preferences. We tend to have mostly non-political working people at the house. (Retirees are welcome as well.) Sorry, no doggies, kitties, or birds. Goldfish OK. Additional full disclosure: My wife and I are remote landlords. I retired to Florida in 2022, and focused on setting up life there, based in Orlando and Melbourne/Palm Bay, and operate an AirBnB there. In the 3 years we have been in Florida, some aspects of the house and grounds are more cluttered than we'd like, e.g. a couple old boats to sell or donate, somewhat neglected landscaping, and we left a few possessions here some of which need to be either organized/tidied for use, sold, donated, scrapped. It's not horrible or anything, just not AirBnB picture perfect. We also had one tenant whose medical issues (cancer) resulted in clutter and messes in the downstairs suite, garage, and workshop; we are working on that. You will not normally need to go into those areas, except possible on rare occasion, e.g., to reset an electrical panel breaker. I usually get to the house about every 3-6 months and stay for 2-3 weeks at a time, to fix any issues, and do routine maintenance, replenish supplies, etc. For example, recently I had to arrange to have the septic pumped while I was in Florida, and had to coordinate a heat pump repair to get the heat/AC working properly for the whole house. If you are handy and can fix minor issues, like install a replacement for a dead bathroom fan, etc. that's a plus. When I'm at the house, I often help people with auto repair issues, and with permission, make tools and equipment available for those repairs. Brakes, starters, alternators, dead blower motors, AC not working, dead power windows, broken door handles, just a few of the things I've helped people with here, not that I do the work, but I help diagnose and advise and may assist to help keep your car on the road. Protecting the quality of the living experience for everyone in the house is the "prime directive" here, so we are selective and patient in finding the right person. Having considerate, high-quality people is the #1 factor in making this a great place to live. If the ad is still up, the room is still available. Annual bonus for great tenants: We will be happy to host you (free) for a week or so in Orlando Florida and Space Coast beaches, even pick you up and drop you off at the airport. Even feed you if you eat what we're having, maybe chip a little for groceries, or do your own thing in our shared kitchen or eat out. Just coordinate dates and pay for your flights to/from, around $250 or so for round-trip nonstop if you plan ahead. Visit Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, and other Orlando attractions (buy your own passes). Compare your true cost of living, level of convenience, and ability to be productive in your mission, and you'll find that this house is a drama-free bargain that saves you time, money, and energy. Deposit is $400, with 300 refundable. Also: Application fee, $20 nonrefundable, by cash or money order. Available : Nov 1, 2025. I will be out of town until Oct. 16, but should be able to arrange showings and property management. I MAY accept couples, however there would be a $300 per month additional person fee. Both partners of a couple would need to pass screening. Please contact me via Craigslist email. When emailing, please share a little bit about you and what caught your eye that suggests this house could be a good fit for you. A couple-three paragraphs is fine, no need for a 5-page book :-) Email thru this ad, and include a phone number and I will contact you there. Also, include the tag "W22" in the subject line of your reply, and you move to the front of the line! Can you pick out important details? Good! Are you willing to follow simple, reasonable instructions? Another good sign! Also, FYI, I will have a master suite vacancy in the same house as of Nov. 1, 2025, 500+ SF and full bath in suite. Look for separate Craigslist posting on that, coming soon. There is also a downstairs MIL type suite that should be available in the Nov/Dec timeframe. Ask me about that if interested.
