Law firm located in Dadeland area is seeking a legal assistant to join their team handling defense litigation matters. Legal Assistant Responsibilites: Initial set-up of case in Client Profiles (CP). Case opened in CP by the billing department- case name & number, billing contact. LA (Elli) inputs all other information available- adjuster, claim number, case style, opposing counsel, court reporter assignment and all initial deadlines. Trial team LA File all pleadings in federal and state court. For federal court matters, LA files: o Notice of appearance for all attorneys on the trial team. o First e-filing on a matter to prepare the notice and properly set up the e-filing requirements for the members of the trial team. o Answer plaintiff's complaint and notice of appearance for attorneys on the trial team and add them to the list of individuals to receive notices from the Court for all filings. o Same process for a newly assigned attorney. Responsible for scheduling and filing/serving: o Hearings, depositions, IMEs, appointments, etc. and confirming documentation, including notices, correspondence and/or subpoenas. Advise trial team via email. Confirm hearings/depositions/mediations/appointments with opposing counsel, the Court and/or mediator.
