Historic culinary venue in Los Gatos seeking qualified candidates for upscale setting. Currently evaluating candidates for Food Runner positions, as well as one Floor Somm. Position Overview: As a Food Runner/Polisher in our esteemed fine dining restaurant, you will play a crucial role in executing our service standards.. Your responsibility is to ensure an exceptional dining experience for our discerning guests in a multicultural setting. You will provide this through your knowledge of cuisine, ingredients, techniques and being able to accurately describe dishes to guests. Your team oriented and hospitality driven mindset, attention to detail, and commitment to service excellence will contribute to the success of our fine dining establishment, where diverse perspectives are celebrated. Key Responsibilities: Sommelier: Overview: We are looking for a service professional who is savvy in both wine knowledge and beverage knowledge. You will work in tandem with our the rest of the team and provide input to our wine and beverage services. Your primary responsibility is to provide exceptional wine and beverage experience for our guests. You will leverage your extensive knowledge of wines, spirits, cocktails, and creative non-alcoholic beverages to enhance the overall dining experience. Your expertise will contribute to guest satisfaction, and you will play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of our establishment. Responsibilities: Wine Service: Support and collaborate with in-house team and work with the Beverage Teams of our monthly resident Teams. Stay informed about industry trends, new releases, and emerging vineyards to continually enhance the wine selection. Guest Interaction: Offer insights into food wine / beverage pairings, ensuring a personalized and memorable dining experience. Collaboration with Visiting Chef Team: Work closely with management who will be in tune with our visiting chefs to understand their culinary concepts and collaborate on wine pairings that enhance their creations. Assist in sourcing unique and complementary wines for special events featuring guest chefs. Cellar and Bar Management: Manage daily prep for bar needs and wine service needs Wine & Beverage Service: Provide exceptional wine service, including proper decanting, pouring, and presentation. Ensure the availability of appropriate glassware and accessories for different types of wines. Ensure knowledge of beverages and the skills for crafting cocktails / mocktails. Cost Control: Work closely with management to establish pricing strategies that balance quality and profitability. Monitor and control beverage costs through efficient inventory management. Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, attend tastings, and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills. Qualifications Proven experience as a Sommelier and Beverage professional in a reputable restaurant or hospitality setting. Michelin/ Fine dining experience. Extensive knowledge of wines, spirits, and other beverages. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Certification from a recognized sommelier program is preferred. Attention to detail and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, considering cultural practices. Implement and enforce all relevant service-related policies and procedures, taking into account cultural diversity. Food Running: You will need to be ready to answer all guest questions on the story, preparation, cooking techniques, product and ingredients of each dish. You will need to be willing to adapt your communication style with each visiting Chef and Team. Demonstrate a deep understanding of the menu, including ingredients, preparation, and cultural considerations. Must demonstrate a keen awareness of guest allergies and dietary restrictions. Communicate menu details with cultural awareness and enthusiasm. Quality Control: Regularly inspect your station for cleanliness and adherence to deep clean schedules, set up and break down. Must participate in ensuring your station and dining room is ready for service Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other service team members - both internal and visiting teams - to ensure a seamless service. Effectively communicate within the team, embracing and celebrating diversity. Maintain a positive attitude at all times. Problem Resolution: Openly communicate with Captains and Management if there is a problem. Development: Provide ongoing coaching to enhance skills, promoting a diverse and inclusive service approach, and continuous learning with all on the Food Running Team. Continuous Learning: All members of the Team are required to do self-study on all visiting chefs, restaurants and the countries/cities they are located.
