Summary: The Road Freight Brokerage Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of transportation for general cargo and heavy and oversized cargo within the United States. This role includes significant responsibility for carrier management, client relations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading a team of logistics professionals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Freight Management: Plan and coordinate the freight brokerage of general Cargo and heavy haul and oversized freight, optimizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers, ensuring favorable terms and service levels. Proactively monitor shipments, anticipate potential issues, and implement effective solutions. Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to streamline operations and enhance visibility. Carrier Relations: Develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with a network of specialized carriers. Evaluate carrier performance, enforce service level agreements, and address any performance concerns. Source new carriers and expand the carrier network to meet business needs. Client Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing exceptional service and building strong relationships. Understand client-specific requirements, develop tailored transportation solutions, and exceed client expectations. Proactively communicate with clients, provide regular updates, and resolve any issues promptly. Team Leadership and Management: Lead, supervise, mentor, and develop a team of dispatchers, logistics coordinators, or other logistics personnel. Set team goals and objectives, assign tasks, and monitor individual and team performance. Provide coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to team members. Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment. Manage team schedules, ensure adequate staffing levels, and address any personnel issues. Compliance and Safety: Ensure strict compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations. Oversee the acquisition of necessary permits and ensure adherence to all safety protocols. Stay informed about changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to processes. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred). Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the US transportation market, regulations, and industry best practices. Expertise in carrier negotiation, contract management, and freight operations. Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other relevant software. Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills. Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills. Ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members. Preferred Qualifications: Industry certifications (e.g., CTL, CTP). Experience with TMS.
