Since 1990, the Coloma Outdoor Discovery School (CODS) has been inspiring students with engaging outdoor education programs. Our program invites students to enjoy a 1 to 3-day adventure exploring California Gold Rush history. We’re proud of our warm and welcoming team of professional naturalist educators, who serve as both knowledgeable teachers and positive role models. We’re excited to be hiring for our Fall 2025 season (October – December)! We have both full-time and part-time positions available, with opportunities during the day and evening. Responsibilities: Educating, supervising, and empowering students. Initiate learning in many formats: at meals, in the field, on the trail, and in large (75+) or small (12-16 students) groups. Continuous personal development of teaching skills and background knowledge of subject areas. Promote positive communication among staff, students, teachers, and chaperones. Model environmentally sustainable behavior and ethics. Regularly manage teaching supplies and equipment. Collaborate with staff and organization leaders to continually upgrade academic and logistical aspects of the program. Qualifications: Ability to conduct skits, songs, and/or stories in front of large groups of children & adults. Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with others. Experience working with people and an enjoyment of all kinds of people, especially children aged 9-11. Excellent communication skills. Love working outdoors – rain or shine. Creative, fun, and energetic! Physically fit- able to stand and walk/ hike for an 8-hour shift. Preferred- BA or BS in the field of education, science, history, or related experience. Current CPR and First Aid certification (online certification does not apply). * Current California Food Handler certification. * *May acquire after hire. Position is non-exempt. The MRDC Bus Driver provides safe bus transportation for Head Start children, assuring that each child is picked up and delivered on schedule daily. Bus Drivers: Transport assigned children to and from Head Start centers efficiently and safely. Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts or are placed in appropriate (age or weight) car seats and belted in. Ensure that any behavioral issues do not compromise the safety of any child on the bus. Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult (on the authorized list) upon leaving the bus. Ensure that no child is ever left unattended while on the bus, following all procedures put in place to prevent a child being left behind. Visually observe the health of each child on the bus. Collaborate with Site Supervisor and families to design efficient bus routes. Requirements Must have, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED. Must have current CDL with Bus and Passenger endorsements. Must have a clean driving record. Must successfully complete a D.O.T annual physical, and a physical with TB test. Must pass a criminal background check in MD and surrounding states. Fun! Fun! Fun! At the Farm What could be more fun than being a tour guide for school kids at an old-fashioned pumpkin farm? Do you remember how fun the pumpkin farm was when you were a child? Well, here is your opportunity to experience the fun once again, while sharing the joy with children. Part-time and fulltime positions are available starting September 24th - October 31st. You will be guiding groups of school children throughout different aspects of the farm. We prefer those with paid experience working with and teaching children. We will teach you everything you need to know. But you must be comfortable speaking to large groups of children and grown-ups alike. The farm is owned and operated by a Sacramento area elementary school teacher. Weekday positions require you to work mornings starting no earlier than 8:45 am and end no later than 1:00 pm. There will be opportunity for some employees to stay and work in the retail locations until 6:00 pm after teaching the children. You must be able to work from mid-September through October 31st, Monday through Friday. The position will end on November 1. The ideal candidate is loud, outgoing and not afraid to laugh. We emphasize humor and fun while guiding your groups. You will be working outdoors and must enjoy all that comes with a farm. You will not have to interact with animals unless desired. This is an ideal situation for college students hoping to teach or work with children in the future, retirees, stay at home moms, or anyone that loves helping kids and the outdoors. First half of signing bonus is given upon hire and the second half is given after 90 days. To be a teacher at The Breakie Bunch you have to be awesome.
