1 Resource Group is currently looking for an Extruder Operator for Manufacturing Plant in Baytown, TX. The Extruder Operator is responsible for the operation of the online extruder(s), Twin Screw Extruders, operation of quality testing equipment, the making of blends, set up of feed for the lines and finished product packaging and storage. Job responsibilities also include quality testing, recording and proper response to testing results. Additional duties required are housekeeping, the maximization of throughput and yield and the ability to assist in supporting areas when necessary. This role will report directly to the Production Team Lead and will interact with all departments across the business. Work will be a mixture of reactive and planned tasks prioritized by the Site Leadership Team. You will be responsible for plant operations to minimize production impacts and enhance reliability, ensuring that production runs smoothly and efficiently. Your attention to detail, teamwork, and commitment to safety will be essential in maintaining high-quality masterbatch production. Key Responsibilities: Operate single and twin-screw extruders to produce masterbatch products. Set up and adjust machines according to job specifications (temperatures, feed rates, die tooling). Monitor production runs, making real-time adjustments to maintain quality and throughput. Conduct visual and physical inspections of finished products for color, consistency, and defects. Complete batch production records, material usage reports, and downtime logs. Ensure proper blending and feeding of raw materials into extruders. Perform routine maintenance and minor troubleshooting of equipment. Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work area. Collaborate with Quality and Maintenance teams to resolve issues and optimize output. Report equipment or process abnormalities immediately to supervisors Pay $22-24hr Requirements High school diploma or GED required. 1–3 years of experience in extrusion or plastics manufacturing preferred. Familiarity with extrusion machinery and polymer processing is a plus. Ability to read and interpret production orders, work instructions, and measurement tools. Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude. Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced environment. JOB SUMMARY This position operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, secondary equipment, and grinders, to machine metallic and nonmetallic workpieces by performing a variety of duties.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Machine setup, operation, and startup, restarting the machine, adjusts tooling to maintain proper sizes, replaces broken or worn tooling. Verify conformance of work piece to specifications, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and go-no-go gauges. Secures all tooling and instruments required; Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures. Understand how to adjust work offsets and part zero. Understand how to adjust the speed and feed of the machine according to different part specifications. Observes daily preventative machine maintenance: proper coolant levels, filters, fan operation, cleans machines, etc. Responsible for loading tools, setting tool Diameters so that cutter radius compensation may be used. Understand how to install Workholding. Additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor may include department transfers to meet production needs. REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES Ability to recognize and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers as needed. Ability to perform intermediate shop math skills and calculations: fraction conversions, divide, multiply, percentages, etc. Basic computer skills required to perform inquiry, data collection or input. Strong work ethic: Willing to work OT to meet tight deadlines as needed.   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a CNC related field - set up experience preferred. Ability to quickly use the control panel to do offsets and edits on 2-3 of the FMS machinery. Tolerance: Ability to machine parts to +/- 0.0005” for diameter and +/- 0.001” for length. Ability to read and interpret GD&T blueprints to the needed specification in creating a part. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.   PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS Regularly required to stand and reach the duration of shift, 8-10 hours. Trouble shoot extrusion process & interact with Maintenance in resolution of equipment problems. Make regular checks on the water level in the cooling tank and ensure that the profile is centered on the hot air tunnel belt. Ensure samples are available for the Q.C. Inspector and measurements are done to the specified frequencies. Pack or cut to the cut length specifications the extruded profile as instructed. Ensure printing and logo is correct and is in accordance with the drawing. Follow quality procedures, document, and record all required process control information. Must be eager to learn, excited to work on a team, and have good written and verbal communication skills Other duties as the need arises and/or assigned. Qualifications & Experience Must be 18 years of age or older. High School diploma or equivalent experience. Must be able to use or can be trained on various types of measuring tools related to our stamping and gasket manufacturing process. Demonstrates the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read, write and comprehend sophisticated instructions, correspondence, and reports. Requires good mobility and involves considerable lifting (less than 35 lbs.), pulling, bending, standing and walking. Working conditions The incumbent in this role spends almost 100% of their time in the plant environment, which may involve varying degrees of physical labor such as standing and walking for long periods of time, lifting, pushing and pulling.
