




This is an exciting opportunity to join our estate team on a beautiful family estate farm located on the seacoast of New Hampshire. Spanning 60 acres, the estate includes greenhouse operations, farming, hunting, fishing, maple syrup production, honey production, and farm events. It also serves as our main home, featuring entertaining, car collecting, a charitable organization, and more. Please note that this position is posted as live-in only and is intended for one qualified individual. The role includes caring for our Estrela Mountain livestock dog. Farm and Habitat Manager Location: Seacoast of New Hampshire Barn Care Maintain a clean, organized, and safe barn environment through consistent daily routines. Complete all morning operations and ensure the barn is presentable. Uphold high standards of cleanliness and hygiene to support animal health and wellbeing. Oversee proper maintenance of equipment, enclosures, and feeding areas. Adhere to and enforce all barn safety and security protocols. Animal Care Provide comprehensive care for all farm animals, including alpacas, goats, pigs, horses, donkeys, birds, farm dog, and cats, adjusting routines to seasonal and environmental conditions. Perform a daily welfare check as the first task each morning: Observe each animal for signs of illness, injury, or abnormal behavior and report concerns immediately. Conduct grooming, feeding, watering, and other health-related care as required. Maintain accurate health records for each animal, including: Veterinary visits Vaccinations Dietary requirements Medication schedules (as per medical chart) Collaborate with the Equine and Farm Manager on all equine-related responsibilities. Farm & Field Equipment Management Keep all machinery clean, operational, and ready for use. Immediately report any broken or malfunctioning equipment to the Executive Estate Director. Livestock Management & Breeding Support and participate in AI (Artificial Insemination) breeding programs in coordination with the Executive Estate Director. Monitor livestock for signs of heat; accurately record breeding dates, behaviors, and results. Maintain a calm, clean, and safe environment during AI procedures. Collaborate with the Equine Manager, Farm Hand, and veterinary team to ensure optimal timing, handling, and post-breeding care. Maintain accurate breeding records for lineage, cycle timing, and outcomes. Remain on property during anticipated births to monitor and assist as needed. Immediately report any health concerns, irregularities, or signs of distress to the Executive Estate Director and/or veterinary professionals. Foster a nurturing environment that prioritizes the animals’ health, safety, and comfort. Conduct safe and engaging farm tours for family and guests. Ensure humane treatment during all care and special procedures. Hunting & Fishing Excursion Management Maintain all hunting and fishing equipment in safe, organized, and operational condition. Plan and execute excursions with a focus on safety and environmental stewardship. Habitat Management Collaborate with the Grounds Team to promote the health of domestic and wildlife populations. Oversee soil health, manure management, and pasture fertilization/drainage strategies. Support groundskeeping efforts to ensure safe, clear pathways and common areas year-round, including snow removal. Mushroom Cultivation Work with the Greenhouse Manager on all mushroom production activities. Assist with inoculating logs/substrates and monitoring growth cycles. Maintain records of growth progress and health indicators. Participate in harvesting to ensure quality standards are met. Maple Syrup Production Oversee the full process from tapping to bottling. Identify and tap designated sugar maples at the proper seasonal time. Monitor sap flow and maintain collection systems daily during the season. Ensure all maple syrup equipment is clean, functional, and stored properly. Operate the evaporator and monitor boiling temperature and consistency. Filter and bottle syrup in sanitized containers; coordinate with the Chef for volume, labeling, and storage. Keep detailed production records, including yield, weather conditions, and quality notes. Emergency Management & Communication Serve as the primary point of contact for all farm-related emergencies. Respond promptly to urgent matters, including on scheduled days off if necessary. Report all animal injuries, illnesses, or deaths immediately to the Executive Estate Director and Equine Manager. Source, vet, and oversee vendors to ensure service quality. Provide weekly check-in emails to Andrew (Principal) and the Equine and Farm Manager. Additional Duties Ensure all areas are prepared for daily use and special events. Assist with event setups and provide on-site support during gatherings. Dog Management Oversee daily care, feeding, grooming, and exercise for Boulder. Maintain consistent training in line with established behavioral expectations. Manage vet visits, vaccinations, and preventative care. Keep accurate records for feeding schedules, medical history, and behavior. Cross-Departmental & Estate-Wide Responsibilities All estate staff are expected to demonstrate flexibility and assist with various tasks beyond their core duties, including: Adhering to start/end-of-day procedures. Assisting with errands, household maintenance, or special projects as requested. Supporting transportation, security, and event logistics. Participating in emergency response for medical incidents, security breaches, or natural disasters. Providing assistance to other staff members and covering roles when needed. Accommodating special requests and adapting to last-minute changes from the Principals or their family.
