Description

Your Choice is seeking a dedicated caregiver with the ability to host someone in their home to provide comprehensive support. The individual is a remarkable person with a diagnosis of Autism and medical health needs requiring specialized care. As this individual’s caregiver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring their health, safety, and well-being in various aspects of their daily life. This individual is working towards getting a job, and likes to go out to eat and go shopping, learning different languages and cultures, reading, arts, etc. Time with their parent is a dedicated day of the week and vital to maintain. Coordination and communication with parent is an empowering part of support success. This individual has made great progress in the last year behaviorally, as they communicate their feelings and advocate better. They are non-binary so respecting their pronouns is important, but they understand it takes time when getting to know someone new. They can be quiet and keep to themselves but engage in conversations when they want to; they have alone time to relax and do the things they enjoy. Feeling supported, positive reinforcement, and acknowledgment when they are doing well is important. What they are looking for in a host home: • LGBTQ+ friendly and supportive of gender fluidity (Still exploring their gender expression and name.) • Not super religious/pushy with beliefs • No male housemates (adult sons included); married couples okay • Would prefer to be the only client; open to one established female client if they click • Minimal, predictable respite only • Absolutely no cats (allergy); dogs okay except “aggressive” breeds • No kids living in the home (occasional family gatherings are fine) • Thursdays with parent is important, so a caregiver who’s willing to help with rides/meet halfway would be a big plus • Family-style meals and cooking together (not expected every night, just not always frozen meals) Qualifications: • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate care and build trusting relationships. • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude when supporting individuals with complex mental health needs. • Background check completed after initial interview. • First Aid/CPR certified. • Ability to be QMAP certified, if not already. • 18 years or older. • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team to meet the individual's needs effectively. If you're passionate about providing exceptional care to individuals with complex needs and possess expertise in behavioral & emotional support, redirections, and positive praise and encouragement, we want to hear from you! Please complete the Caregiver Screening below and a manager will contact you to become an integral part of this remarkable individual’s journey towards health, independence, and happiness. https://forms.office.com/r/sMWfqZV7D0
