Part-Time Dispatcher - Make a Difference in Seniors' Lives! (lafayette / orinda / moraga)

Since 2006, the Lamorinda Spirit Van Program (lovelafayette.org/spiritvan) has provided safe, reliable, affordable transportation for Lamorinda residents ages 60 and older. We help seniors get to medical appointments, run errands, shop, and enjoy lunch at Café Costa in Walnut Creek and more — supporting their independence and connection to the community. We are seeking a part-time Dispatcher to join our team. This position is typically 1–2 afternoons per week (4–6 hours each shift), with occasional additional hours to cover for other dispatchers. The Dispatcher reports directly to the Program Coordinator. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities • Receive and process ride reservations from passengers via phone and email. • Organize and schedule rides to balance efficiency with passenger needs. • Communicate schedules clearly to our team of dedicated volunteer drivers. • Collect and record passenger payments from van envelopes. • Maintain and restock van supplies. • Assist with monthly reports that track program usage and performance. • Able to quickly learn and adapt to new software programs. ________________________________________ Required Qualifications • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; able to engage warmly and compassionately with older adults and team members. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills. • Residence in the Lamorinda area. • Flexibility to cover additional shifts when needed. ________________________________________ Terms of Employment • Classified as a temporary employee (though we are looking for someone interested in a long-term commitment). • Maximum of 19.75 hours per week. ________________________________________ Benefits • Meaningful work that enhances the lives of local seniors. • Opportunity to make a direct, positive community impact. • Supportive, collaborative team environment. • Competitive hourly wage. • Sick leave benefits. ________________________________________ How to Apply If you’re enthusiastic about helping seniors remain active and independent, we encourage you to apply.
