Prep/Finish (paint dept. - fabrication co.) (Jersey City)
Job Overview:
We are seeking experienced prep/finishers to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in prep/finish for fabrication work. This role involves working closely with our Paint Department Manager to create state-of-the-art set pieces, props, and other scenic elements that enhance aesthetics of events. A keen eye for detail, quick-paced execution, and experience with chip/foam brushes, rollers, sandpaper, variety of paints, shellac, stains, lightweight body-filler (bondo), hot-mix (plaster), and other often-used prep/finish materials is advantageous for success in this position.
Responsibilities:
-Work with Paint Department Manager to execute prep/finish design concepts into scenic elements.
-Execute prep/painting techniques on various materials, including wood, fabric, foam, acrylics, and metal, ensuring high-quality finishes.
-Operate hand tools and power tools safely while adhering to all safety protocols during construction painting tasks.
-Assist in fabrication processes as needed for set installations.
-Participate in moving set pieces as needed between departments; set construction, to support overall production needs.
-Maintain a clean and organized workspace and ensure all materials are properly stored after use.
Skills:
-Experience in prep/finish/paint techniques in fabrication.
-Ability to perform heavy lifting as required during set construction and installation processes.
-Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members across various departments. Bilingual candidates (Spanish and English) highly considered.
-A background in fabrication, construction, visual arts, technical theatre, or related fields is highly desirable.
