Ward 1 City councilman, Paul Casto, will face his pre-trial hearing on Dec. 2, at 9 AM, for a hit-and-run incident on Middle Beach Rd. Anyone who has seen him speak at council meetings knows he is not the sharpest tool in the box, but he is a tool. Casto has not selected an attorney. Perhaps, Cole "Son" Davis will be coaching him on what to say. Will he represent himself? Casto, according to Police filings, rear-ended a woman vacationing here. Rather than pull over and exchange information, Casto drove off. The victim followed, and Casto did his best to lose her in traffic. He went home, but the victim was smart enough to take a picture of his license plate. The police were summoned, but felt chicken and turned the case over to the Florida Highway Patrol. They claimed it was a conflict of interest. The dent and imprint of the license plate frame on the victim's bumper matched the one on his red Dodge truck. Paul had some luck. Besides making up a bunch of garbage stories about what happened, he had the help of former Police Chief and current City Manager, Drew Whitman. Whitman called Casto and told him that the PoPo was searching for him. It will be interesting to see what happens to Casto. First off, he should resign from office, and if the Mayor has any gonads, he will call for his resignation. This is not who we need running the city. Paul already sucks a whopping pension from the taxpayers each month; he will be just fine without this graft position in government. Would Paul have acted differently if it were a large male in the car he hit? Does he discount women and think he is smarter than they are? Was Casto drunk when he hit the victim, and hence, he ran home to drink some black coffee to sober up?
