Re-use Hawai‘i is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization on a mission to strengthen our community by decreasing waste, providing affordable resources, creating green jobs, and (re)cultivating the circular economy. Every year, we divert an average 740,000 pounds of resources from the landfill through our Deconstruction and Redistribution programs. Deconstruction is a sustainable alternative to demolition where our skilled crews hand-disassemble buildings to salvage the material for reuse. These building materials, along with salvaged furniture, appliances, hardware, and more are sold at our Redistribution Centers for 40-90% off retail value. This is a full time position, 35-40 hours per week. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7am-4pm. Work location varies across Oahu. Position responsibilities: ● Hand-deconstruct building structures, including: performing surface and structural salvage, handling recycling and waste materials, and preparing and loading salvaged material for hauling. ● Arrive on time and prepared. ● Take care of the organization's tools and equipment. ● Participate in daily safety meetings. ● Follow supervisory directions. ● Help maintain safe, clean, and orderly job sites by coordinating and cooperating with co-workers. We have an exciting opportunity in our Baltimore, MD location for a Sewing Machine Mechanic that has industrial sewing machine experience. We are a 501 c3 nonprofit organization who supports the blind community by providing stable and rewarding career opportunities, innovative rehabilitation programs, economic and personal independence, and appropriate resources for training and education. What you will be doing: (Other duties may be assigned) · Must have experience with Juki, Brother, Mitsubishi, and other Sergers and single needle machines. Experience with automatic machines a plus (label, bartac, button hole). · Ability to set up and maintain sewing machines and document machine repairs and parts used. · Procurement of necessary parts and spares to ensure minimal down time. · Conduct regular maintenance checks on machines and other equipment. · Train or instruct other employees on proper use and operation of machines. Ability to communicate clearly. · Complete daily maintenance and repair logs. · Maintain and secure work tools. · Make recommendations on repair/replacement of equipment. · Install new equipment. · Maintain a parts inventory for equipment. · Clean and maintain work area. Qualifications: Manual dexterity required – will routinely stand, sit, lift, climb, etc. Must have strong mechanical, electrical, and pneumatics aptitude with good trouble shooting skills Basic reading, writing and math skills. Must have a valid driver’s license and will need to pass company sponsored forklift training course. Must be able to read and work from circuit diagrams, blueprints and schematic diagrams. Looking for an irrigation tech with a minimum of 2 years experience. Must be able to operate Hunter, Irritrol and Toro controllers, including battery controllers. Must be able to document daily activities accurately, clock time accurately and be accountable (we use GPS tracking). Must be able demonstrate ability to change irrigation valves, sprinklers and controllers. Must be able to independently complete 1" and smaller PVC repairs, sprinkler repairs and dripline repairs Attention to detail is required. Must have a valid drivers license and clean driving abstract.
