🧩 Remote Rhino & ExactFlat Patterning Contractor – Marine Canvas / Upholstery DXF Projects Little House of Canvas — a marine canvas and upholstery company based at the Port of Everett — is seeking a technically skilled Rhino 3D designer to assist in creating flattened DXF cut files for our digital fabrication process. You’ll work remotely with our patterning team to take 3D measurement files from our Prodim Proliner and convert them into production-ready, flattened panels using Rhino, ExactFlat, and Grasshopper (where applicable). These files are then printed and cut on our Carlson Design plotter/cutter table. This is a remote, contract position with flat-rate pay per project — ideal for a digital designer familiar with 3D modeling and surface unfolding workflows. About the Workflow Our digital process combines: Prodim Proliner for precise 3D pattern capture Rhino 8 for modeling and surface cleanup ExactFlat for pattern flattening, seam creation, and labeling Grasshopper scripts for parametric workflows and automation Carlson Design plotter/cutter for final production If you already know Rhino but are new to ExactFlat, we’re happy to provide guidance — we’re primarily looking for someone with strong Rhino fundamentals and a willingness to learn. Responsibilities Import and process Prodim Proliner measurement files into Rhino. Prepare clean 3D surfaces for flattening and nesting. Create accurate, production-ready 2D patterns in ExactFlat (or equivalent). Add seam allowances, alignment marks, and labeling per our standards. Export clean DXF files formatted for our Carlson Design cutting table. Communicate with our shop team to ensure proper fit and accuracy. Qualifications Proficiency in Rhino 3D (required). Experience with ExactFlat, or strong interest and ability to learn quickly. Familiarity with Grasshopper scripting is a strong plus. Understanding of digital fabrication or sewn-goods workflows. Detail-oriented, organized, and responsive in communication. Reliable delivery of clean, ready-to-cut DXF files. Compensation Flat rate per project (based on scope and complexity). Remote, flexible hours. Ongoing collaboration with potential for consistent project work.
