Our ideal candidate will work well in multiple software languages as part of a rapid pace, collaborative, small-team environment consisting of Scientists, Engineers, and Developers and be able to prototype and develop advanced algorithms leading to eventual integration in C++ on Linux operating systems as part of government frameworks. Responsibilities Research new algorithms and analysis techniques for remote sensor data exploitation Demonstrate fluent, idiomatic mastery of Python and C++; comfortable with software design and architecture Develop proof-of-concept signal processing, image processing, and data exploitation tools in Python Improve Python tools surrounding our machine learning, modeling, and simulation efforts Characterize quality/performance of algorithms and sensor systems Work as part of an Agile team and contribute to shared tools Other duties as assigned Requirements A Bachelor's degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science. Who is conducting the study, and what is it about? Dr. Joshua Gowin, PhD, a neuroscientist and director of Brain Alcohol Research Laboratory at the Department of Radiology of University of Colorado Anschutz medical Campus and his research team are recruiting participants for a study to examine how cannabis consumption affects the Alcohol consumption, and how both substances impact the brain pattern and behavior. Who can join this study? You can participate in this study if you are an adult (age 21-40) who drinks alcohol and use cannabis regularly and have the experience of using them at the same time. Why should I join this study? This study serves to benefit the public by increasing our understanding of how alcohol and cannabis use impact the brain pattern and behavior. What will I be asked to do? The study includes three visits. The first visit is called baseline visit and it will be over the zoom. In this visit we will go over the consent form and the study details with you. After you sign the consent form, we will send a W-9 form to you for the compensation you will receive. Then you will have a psychiatrist visit with our team psychiatrist to evaluate your substance use condition and then you will fill out more questionnaires with us. If you were eligible to be enrolled in the study, you will attend two in-person visits to our lab where you will consume THC drug on one study visit and placebo on another one. Integrate with external systems (e.g., CRMs, file systems, APIs) to automate ingestion of diverse data sources. Develop robust data workflows using Python and Databricks Workflows. Implement modular, maintainable ETL processes following SDLC best practices and Git-based version control. Contribute to the evolution of our Lakehouse architecture to support downstream analytics and machine learning use cases. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflows in production. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data needs into scalable solutions.
