Head Baker for Bagel Shop (SOMA / south beach)
Bagel Daddy, a new bagel purveyor in San Francisco is looking for a Head Baker that will be part of the founding team for a new shop in the design district.
We are looking for a Head Baker who will ensure a perfect bagel for every customer. That includes running a bagel operation that can make up to 5500 bagels a day. We have a top of the line bagel kitchen in the heart of the design district, and aim to expand across the bay area.
Job Summary
- Lead and oversee all bagel production operations from dough prep through boiling, baking, and finishing, ensuring consistency, quality, and timely output
- Supervise, train, and mentor the bakery team (bakers, assistants)
- Manage inventory, supplies, and cost controls
- Collaborate with management on menu development, scheduling, and bakery strategy
- Uphold food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience as a baker or head baker (ideally in high-volume or artisan bakery settings)
- Specific experience with bagel production preferred (mixing, proofing, boiling, baking)
- Excellent leadership, team management, and training skills
- Experience with inventory management
- Ability to troubleshoot issues with consistency or equipment
- Food safety certification (e.g. ServSafe) and solid knowledge of health regulations
- Comfort working early morning shifts (e.g. starting before dawn), weekends, and holidays
- Physical stamina (requiring long periods of standing, lifting, bending)
