Colossus, a cozy and vibrant cafe in San Pedro, CA, is seeking an experienced General Manager to help us deliver outstanding service and maintain our reputation as a neighborhood favorite.   What You'll Be Doing ●     Oversight/management of all staff, mentorship, and indirect management of other staff members through example ●     Giving verbal and written warnings to employees when needed ●     Conducting 6 month and 1-year reviews of direct employees ●     Attend weekly manager meetings to review current food costs, general upkeep, staffing and culture. Contribute constructive feedback and solutions to further a culture of community hospitality, tolerance and cooperation, and collaborative growth for the company, our customers, and our community. ●     Upkeep and monitoring of all cafe equipment, regular communication with other leaders and owners regarding upkeep, including: ○     Espresso Machine and Grinders ○     Batch Brewer ○     Refrigeration and Ice Machine ○     Cafe Furniture and general appearance and upkeep of dining room, retail wall, and bread/pastry display. ●     Manager responsible for baristas and service staff: ○     Daily schedule ○     Cleaning tasks/side work ○     Break Schedule, ensure employees take lunch breaks and 10-minute breaks when needed ○     Uniform Compliance ○     Customer service performance ○     General job performance ●     Ensure that all labor numbers fit into the appropriate budget for Colossus and the sustained growth and prosperity of the restaurant long term. ●     Review timesheets weekly and ensure they are accurate in time for payroll. ●     Participate in the interview and hiring process. Including but not limited to: ○     Coordinating and managing interviews ○     Coordinating/engaging in panel interviews with CDC, and owner. ○   What We're Looking For We’re searching for someone who is: - Experienced: You bring at least 3 years of experience in a management role, ideally in a cafe or food service environment. - A Self-Starter: You’re motivated, proactive, and ready to take ownership of your role. - Hard-Working: You thrive in a fast-paced environment and lead by example. - Organized and Detail-Oriented: You have a knack for keeping things running smoothly, even during the busiest times. - A Team Player: You believe in fostering a positive and supportive team culture.   Required skills, knowledge, and abilities: ●     Maintains a safe environment for all employees and customers ●     Must possess a food safety manager certification or be willing to attain one within the first 30 days of employment ●     Availability for both weekend days and overall schedule availability ●     Must be able to provide reliable transportation to/from work ●     Must be proficient with Email, Google Drive, Slack and Microsoft Office   Physical Requirements, with or without a reasonable accommodation ●     Ability to move about the cafe space frequently throughout shift ●     Ability to operate job related tools, such as espresso machines and coffee brewers ●     Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers ●     Ability to frequently move prep items in bins weighing up to 40lbs ●     Exposure to kitchen environment with hot surfaces     We will consider for employment all qualified Applicants, including those with Criminal Histories, in a manner consistent with the requirements of applicable state and local laws, including the City of Los Angeles’ Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance.   We provide equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics. Food server needed part time to START IMMEDIATELY for Friday and Saturday nights & some Thursday nights for casual Italian restaurant w outdoor patio and indoor dining.
