Bit of a dork, kind heart, tries hard but always slightly off-beat. Her birthday “mystery gift” becomes the film’s MacGuffin. • MASTER/ TEACHER / “Paul” Dave’s karate instructor. Dry humor, hates being called “Master.” Ex–martial artist who runs a strip-mall dojo and moonlights at GNC. • THUG CREW – a gang of modern-day street crooks (stylish, TikTok-age villains) who underestimate Dave. • WIFE / EX-WIFE – pragmatic, funny, doesn’t believe Dave’s kung fu obsession is ever useful… until it is.
