Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Operating Officer (DCOO) & CIO, the Director of Enterprise Risk Management provides executive-level leadership to Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance, Emergency Management and Business Continuity, Security, and Environmental Health and Safety.     This position will focus on the University’s Enterprise Risk Management, Safety, and Security by focusing on hazard-based risk identification, mitigation, and controls. Leads the CRT to develop, implement and assess an effective Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and effective teamwork among the members of the CRT.  Conducts, supervises, and evaluates campus emergency response drills, and implementation of Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within the CRT.  Collaborates with the President and other senior leadership to create a climate of safety and security throughout the University.  Develops, monitors, and evaluates a comprehensive EOP to be administered University-wide to ensure appropriate emergency preparedness and response from all students, faculty, and staff.  Security  Develop, monitor, and evaluate the University-wide security program utilizing contracted security services to ensure the protection of SMU assets, staff, faculty, students, and visitors.  Develops, enforces, and reviews University security policies and procedures and ensures the staff, students, and faculty are informed of said policies and procedures.   Oversees and implements the University’s access control and camera systems.  Annually prepares and submits The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.  Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S)  In coordination with contracted EH&S vendor, develops, maintains, and communicates health and safety policies and procedures.  Work collaboratively with the Office of People and Culture and other departments to ensure the effective implementation of health and safety programs.  Perform periodic inspections of workplace facilities to detect fire and life safety hazards and conditions.
