The role ensures compliance with hotel standards, maintains bar cleanliness and inventory, and performs cashiering duties. The Bartender plays a key role in delivering Sonesta's mission of providing exceptional service to both guests and colleagues. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary work environment. Shape Education and Experience High school diploma or GED preferred, culinary degree a plus. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Previous experience in a 4- or 5-star hotel culinary operation strongly preferred Qualifications and Skills Minimum age 21 years old. 2 years’ experience as a bartender or barback. Have at least 2 years of experience in a bar, restaurant, or hospitality setting (as a bartender, barback, or similar role). Hold a valid Food Handling Certificate (or be willing to obtain one within 30 days of hire). Alcohol awareness certification (such as TIPS® or ServSafe Alcohol). Complete opening inventory sheet and requisition supplies. Ensure bar area is clean, organized, and ready for service. B. Service Duties Greet guests warmly and take beverage/food orders. Provide recommendations and upsell when appropriate. Accurately input orders into the POS system. Prepare and serve drinks per recipes and hotel standards. Deliver light food items and beverages to guests. Serve wine, cocktails, champagne, espresso, and cappuccino when ordered. Respond promptly to guest needs and requests. C. Guest Relations Maintain positive guest interactions and anticipate needs. Handle complaints professionally to ensure satisfaction. Answer the bar phone promptly and courteously. Be knowledgeable about hotel services and local attractions. D. Compliance & Cash Handling Follow all state liquor laws and hotel alcohol service policies. Count and secure bank, submit cashier reports, and finalize POS closing. Restock bar for next shift as needed. Shape Secondary Functions Assist with weekly/monthly inventories.
